The way you have the twine arranged it should last this season. It's organic and will break down. As long as you don't put a lot of weight on any single strand you should be fine for a year.

BTW, for pole beans you don't need the horizontal twine (or wire if you go that route). The beans just want to climb straight up and have no problem doing so on a single vertical strand. Now that I think about it though, a horizontal string every couple feet might be nice insurance against the vine falling down in a high wind situation. More so for the wire than the twine.

6" spacing is pretty good for any pole bean. Some would use 3" spacing, but I don't see the point. The leaves will shade each other and finding all the beans becomes harder due to all the foliage. Your call though.

You should be able to get a season out of twine. Genuine twine will rot over time. Plastic twine will break down (UV rays). Either way, you're looking at replacing it annually.

It doesn't have to be particularly tight. The sturdiness of the trellis itself is more important - once the beans get growing, wind becomes more of a factor.

Stainless wire will work just as well. Last year I grew some on chain link fence (bit of a pain to clean it up at the end of season)

6 inch spacing should be fine.

The only other thing is that deer really like them. Looks like you have a double fence going on there, so you should be fine.

You trellis looks great! If you want the "netting" to last many years think about using a cattle panel instead. Your local TSC should carry them. Is that a windy area? I use 4x4 posts in the ground 2' to keep mine sturdy. Here's a picture. The fence running down the center is for polebeans and cukes. The exterior fence is field fence as well with additional wires to get to around 7' to keep the deer out.

I just use field fence since it's cheaper in 250' rolls.

Great pictures of the bean fences. I can do the same with my snow peas as well? I just wanted to put in this, if your TSC is as poor at customer service and information as ours, boycott. I will never go in again. Just me doing my part in the free market system. (just like those in the posting about "unethical practices at the nurseries" should do. Dont buy there and tell everyone you know about it.)
