Yikes! Tornado warning & marble-sized hail

We've had severe thunderstorm warnings all day with warm temps, and about a half-hour ago I brought in my tomatoes, peppers, and melons for the night from the deck. All seedlings.

I'd no more gotten the door closed when the tornado sirens went off and it began to hail. The deck is now covered with marble-sized hail.

I couldn't bring in my onions, which have been growing lushly in four large containers. There wasn't time to cover them, either.

Some of the leaves are bent and leaning. Most of the hail seems to have fallen straight down, wasn't blown in sideways, so I guess the onion-damage could have been worse. But I'm not happy about the way they look now.

Just how bad does the damage have to be to affect onion growth?
