Using Step Ladders in Landscape

I have found 2 ladders on craigslist and I am thinking of adding them to my landscape design instead of an arbor. Any suggestions would be great. Climbing clematis, putting potted/hooked plants on the steps? help!

You could post some pics that show the context and situated and conditions(if have,include drainage irrigation)(They are not too close up).first upload photo to any photo-hosting site.Photobucket and Flickr are examples . While at that photo on the site,look for a link to "share." Then look for a way of obtaining "html code" (don't select the thumbnail version).Copy that code and paste it directly into your message here.
You could tell me that sun light time(or where face?) and climate and soil PH.zone,or local name.

I tried hyacinth beans on an old step ladder one year but the rabbits kept eating off the new plants. So last year I decided to give it another try when I saw a hyacinth bean plant on clearance at a nursery...so I made a tripod of old garden tools ... hoe, rake & something else, planted the plant in the center of the tripod ... and then wrapped plastic netting around the bottom outside of the tool handles. WOW...it did fantastic!!! I couldn't even see the tools by the end of summer! A great climber! Jeanne S.

Orcascove, You may also want to start the seed indoors a bit before your last freeze date. They won't sprout in cool soil if you plant them out, mine wait until early july when the soil warms to sprout if I plant them directly. I usually pot a few up in early April for Memorial day planting, even those tend to stall until the ground warms, expect flowers very late August through first frost unless you start them indoors.

Ditto to Jodi and igloochic. I have the same step stool and I'm very happy with it. I also keep it in my kitchen toekick drawer. It's perfect for my 4 year old to get out himself, easy to set up without too much finger pinching. Easy to clean. Cheap. And my toe kick drawers are much smaller than Jodi's so it just fits in there. I got mine at Ace Hardware and have seen them elsewhere since then (maybe BB&B but don't quote me on that). Speaking of toekick drawers (just as a side, sorry to hijack post)...Do yours work smoothly and fit in the space nicely. I live in an old 1920s house and admittedly, the kitchen is very wonky, but I'm irked with my cabinet maker on many fronts - one of which is that my toekick drawers are very tight and hard to open. Do yours work as smoothly as your regular drawers?

A photo of the step and location, both relatively close in and how it sits in the landscape would be helpful. For instance, if this is on the path to your main entry, using inexpensive 12” or 24” patio block laid solid might be better than gravel with stepping stones for walkability, especially for anyone wearing heals or with mobility issues. If it is in an area that isn’t a main walkway, you have more flexibility with materials. Knowing where you are may be important as well. Where I live, being able to shovel snow off a surface, and winter drainage to avoid ice slicks on walkways is really important, as is having an appropriate base and materials that won’t shift with freeze and thaw cycles.

Am quite sure our Chinese friend has no idea what a ladder is but am equally sure they will shortly appear in the Quick Draw McGraw renderings we've become so familiar with.

Don't see where they're much different in the gardenscape than lashing three old broom sticks together to make a tuteur for sweetpeas, clematis, scarlet runner beans, climbers of all types.

Perusing the images for step ladders as garden art there is a picture of a cute one just nestled in the assorted garden plants, painted bright yellow with potted plants on the rungs.
