HAVE: rooted kiwi, and fig, lost tag

I have a few rooted kiwi - hardy varieities, possible name is Anna, Geneva,or cordifolia,

and rooted fig,possible name-brown turkey or excel,

I can do postage or trade if you have anything I really like.

Due to the scam I have experience with C***95 located in KY 42303, I will mail out mine after I receive your mail's confirmation

Hey Wendy, I needed to tell you that my fig tree from China
is doing great. Have you been to see all their beautiful plants again? I would love some more Kiwi. If you will email me how much postage, I will get it in the mail first.

Yes! I would like at least one of your male and female kiwi plants. Your other plants sound nice also ...did not do the reasurch on them yet. However I am zone 5 ...so I know I can't take your grapefruit...lol... I hope there is somthing of mine that you can find you would like. The whole mailing procedure sounds a bit complicated so it would be nice if I could find people close in NY (I live in Yonkers). I would be willing to do all the transplanting. I probably should get rid of all my forsythia and hosta in the side corner of my house but I don't see why anyone would want any of that. I also have some red trumpet vine its just too big for the places its in now and would like to be rid of it. And it keeps shooting out little runners and making new vines ...anyway it would be easy for me to dig out a few of those and send. ...Same for my lilac (vulgaris) (purple) The plants I am interested in are but not just limited to: Phlox, Magnolia Niger, rhubarb, blueberry, any clematis, any dogwood, Marionberry, Annona squamosa, paw paw, any smallish flowering perennial. Rooting Hardy Kiwi Cuttings

The beginnings of success! Here's a picture of a rooted stem cutting from a cellpack: The medium was damp 1:1 Peat:Pearlite in a 1" square cells. The bottom end was quick dipped in Dip'N Grow diluted about 50% (with some gel powder added), but I actually had a higher percentage of success with the hormone powder (IBA or NAA worked equally well). Most of the DNG gel dipped ones rotted and I'm starting to think that stuff is only meant for dormant woody cuttings The callused like crazy but had almost no roots. My second batch of cuttings are all using a mixture of the two powders and some are wetted with the Willow Tea and I expect a higher success rate. Also my outdoor shaded misting box (with drainage through the cellpacks) worked better than the enclosed humidity chamber. The box has more headroom with more air circulation. The mist controller (with fogger nozzles) is set so go 5 seconds every 10,15 or 30 minutes depending on outdoor air temp and humidity. I like the DIG 2GPH fog nozzles. Here's a picture of some successful growth following kiwinut's technique. This way is a bit more touchy for moisture control and a more sterile starting medium I think because the leaf petiole is actually sticking up through the soil, so if it starts damping off, it's over. But it does work! These were started 2 each in the long cells from my previous post, and placed in a humidity chamber (upside down clear tote) under florescent lights in the shaded shed (never got above 85F). The rooted ones were transfered to these 4" pots containing Jungle Growth soil for food. In other news: I started a blog about our gardening experiences over the last few years and will lead up to a behind the scenes look at starting a small nursery. I'm going to specialize in Antinidia Arguta and start out small, sell a few very healthy plants and have a nice orchard. It is called KiwiGrower and you are all invited to read and comment. I have some rooted ana hardy kiwi plants, M/F, some rooted gojiberry plants, a fuyu persimmon tree from which I can take cuttings and a sherwood jujube from which I can take cuttings. I would be interested in any other jujube cutting for grafting on my jujube, black mission fig cuttings for rooting, seeds for the guava, papaya, and mango and a passion flower cutting for rooting. Hi Kitty, Most varieties of kiwi require a male and female. A couple of varieties that I have tried were self pollinating but grew less vigorously. That said I already have marionberries now and am really not interested in raspberries. Do you have anything else to offer? Paul
