using siphon w a drip system?

I have hozon siphon from years ago (paperwork long gone of course)and a cheep drip system. Would it work to put the siphon inline to pick up weak feeding solution? I seem to recall that siphons work best at full flow so am wondering if it would work with the reduced rate/pressure of the drip system. Anyone done this or have insights? I can easily keep mixing and watering manually but want to put in the drip system on timer for my brugs anyway.

It probably won't have enough flow to work. That was my experience with those and drip irrigation. I used to use one with about 2000 feet to T-tape, and it had enough flow volume to pick up the fertilizer when the lines were filling, but once the system got up to pressure and was just dripping even that wasn't enough flow to make it siphon. My solution to that issue was to mix the concentrate really, really strong, and it would take up a fair amount, several gallons, and then dilute it out with a couple of hours of watering. But I wouldn't advise trying that on potted plants, I was doing this in a large vegetable garden on field soil.

The only place my hozon does not work is one garden where the header line is on the downhill end of the garden. Pushing the water uphill makes too much back pressure. The length of the row does not seem to matter. I can run eight 300' rows just fine on flat ground with the hozon. But four 125' rows will not siphon at all going up a gentle slope. fwiw, my EZ-Flow won't work worth a darn on that garden, either.

mo, How often and how much water will you need for your garden? Also how big is your cistern? Do you have an alternate source of water for your garden? All important information in giving a recommendation. A siphon does not give you control of irrigation when needed for a garden. You need to be present while it is operating. Do you like the Mister Landscaper products & does anyone else have any longterm experience w/ this sort of layout? I purchased the starter kit (50 ft. of tubing, asstd. stakes & drippers, the patio & potted plant kit, & the timer)-I'm going to try & set it up this weekend. I think a system like this might just as efficient or more, as the soaker hoses I currently have in the perimeter beds around the house. I'll move my soaker hoses to the outer edges, & water that way, instead of the intermittent sprinkler water they get now... My yard is a typical suburban rectangle, 103' x 167', just under 1/2 acre, lots of mature trees, so pretty heavily shaded. I value my few sunny spots & try to cram as much in there as I can, & I think if could get a handle on the watering, I could cram in even more plants!

You have two separate problems and together they'll kick your butt. You are underestimating back-pressure. Pressure drop in a 3/4 inch garden hose is 82 psi over 550 feet at 10 gallons per minute, or 40 psi at 5 gallons per minute. That 5-10 gallons per minute won't ever happen. I think a 550 foot siphon will have such low pressure at the end, especially through a 3/4 inch line and a crud filter, that you will need lazygardens' suggested intermediate water holding "tower" (a 55 gallon drum?). That way you get a very modest pressure head and you will no longer have to care about siphoning rates since you will have 24 hours in every day to actively siphon. However, even if you do increase the water supply you're trying to shove all that low pressure water through 2400 feet of drip line! At ten pounds, no way. Perhaps a siphon-fed booster pump (that would run for a measly ten minutes a day) might be useful to fill that tower you had to hoist way up for head. At some point in the plan you will have to work energy into the system.
