While I think that the "FAQ" as outlined by swanoir was presented tongue in cheek ('the humus'), many of the subsequent comments and/or links to threads that could/should be included in a FAQ were presented in a more serious tone. And maybe they do make sense as a foundation to a real LD forum FAQ. But I've also sensed something else in these comments that may contribute to the apparent lack of communication between new posters seeking advice and those that regularly frequent this forum and offer it. And that is that the long checklist provided by Miss R must be (or should be) answered in detail before posting. Well, of course not! But it is definitely something worth reviewing and giving some thought to. This checklist, or something very similar, is what most designers utilize when first meeting with a prospective client. It gives them a feeling for what the client wants to do with the property, how they intend to use it, what they hope to get out of it and how much effort (time/$$) are they are intending to put into it. Hopefully, reviewing an outline or checklist such as this could help to refine and focus some of those blank slate questions and even educate those new posters totally unfamiliar with the process the degree of complexity, the number of variables and exactly what is involved in the formulation of a landscape design. Even DIY landscape texts intended for the homeowner with no previous design or landscaping experience offer similar checklists to get one started thinking about the process. Obviously, this is overkill for those questions that are more issue-specific, but I think very appropriate for those that are much broader and far less focused.

Sandy, Maybe after 47 years of mostly ignoring Hesperiidae (except for a few noteworthy exceptions) I may have to start paying attention to them. They are about the only thing that has visited here in any kind of numbers the last couple of years. Maybe I'll go to storage and dig out my dot maps so I know exactly which species are recorded from this county by next year. Might help with IDing them. As for pictures, I get what I can. Most are not very cooperative with only plants that most lepidoptera consider borderline nectar plants. The open landscaping and lack of mobility doesn't help much either as I can't sneak up on them. Few let me get closer than 5-10', some not even that close. Have three species of sphecid wasps coming here right now... and none let me get within picture range. L.

I'm quite frankly floored by people at their "assumptions". QUESTION to those so sanctimonious.... If someone asked to use your MASTER Bathroom, would you??? It's not about not being "decent" by not wanting some stranger in the place where you bathe and keep your feminine essentials and medications. That's all FINE and good for those of you who have a Powder Room, maybe on the main floor or by a kitchen... but what about for those of us who only have ONE bathroom? YES, believe it or not, houses like that DO exist. I rent a house and they had to have contractors here to do work. I was floored and totally uncomfortable with the fact that the first day on the job, a young helper asked to use the bathroom within 10 minutes of getting to the job and then was in there for literally 15 minutes... really??? He couldn't do that business before he got to the job? Got over it in a minute... but then, second day, again, same helper asked to use my main bathroom right before going to lunch... and is in there again, 10 minutes to do his number 2? He couldn't go during lunch? If it were hours after lunch? Hey, we're human... Or if this were a rural area.... But, I'm literally less than a mile from a main strip of Malls and restaurants and gas stations. They even head to Home Depot at least once a day during the job, which is 1 mile away and also go for an hour lunch. NO, I'm not inhospitable and indecent, but my Bathroom where I bathe is an intimate place. Stop lynching the people who think workers should be just a little considerate about it at least.

I do wonder if the prices will be bumped a bit? The hardware/boxes of AKURUM are quite a steal - seems like the fronts were where they got most of the profit. I would definitely NOT do an AKURUM kitchen right now. I think it would be asking for trouble with availability issues, etc. Plus the torture of being taunted by the new best thing kitchens ;) . I know, I'm still not done installing custom cabinet fronts in my AKURUM kitchen.
