There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available on any of the databases, I wonder if that isn't because of a high likelihood it won't come true from seed - being a hybrid of Buddleia davidii and Buddleia globosa. Ontario Rock Garden seed database does mention up to 90 days to germinate for the weyeriana types (surface sown, 65-68F) and a somewhat low germination rate....when did you sow?

I'd also vote for the artemesia...I've got an upright backing my spiderwort collection, and use the mounding forms to edge the iris beds that I babysit for my MIL. you might also look into a variety of succulents- I've got both tall and creeping sedums, and wondered how I lived without them! the leaves run from soft greens into reds and purples, and they flower in many warm shades... if the bed's big enough, I'd think about air layering the butterfly bush, and making a few more for yourself... and maybe adding a white one? http://www.leevalley.com/garden/page.asp?page=46938&category=2%2C47236&SID=&ccurrency=2 the rooter pot's made things a lot easier on me, trying to fill in a bed with nothing in it but tulips and phlox!

Sharon, from this collection, in 2005 I had grown "Purple Emperor" as a container plant, and indeed it was very nice! It had flowered heavily over a long period of time and the foliage was also rather appealing. Unfortunately, that fall when the plant was still lush and green, I had buried it deeply outside, and come spring it was completely dead ... this due to not being properly prepared for winter and all the water still being within the stems, they had burst open from the sap which had turned to ice ... guess, live and learn! If I can find another one I'm gonna keep it over in the cold room. Terry
