I just could see where medicinal turned into illegal quick. Don't u have to have a license to grow and if so do u ensure the people u are trading with do? I get the medicinal effect of marijuana and administer Marinol as a nurse often. I just would think such a public forum might be a bad stage to trade cannabis.

I do not intentionally withhold water, I too prefer to keep them moist and fed during the summer growing season, mainly to fatten up the stems. Flowers are a bonus! But it does seem like when I go away for a week or 2 on vacation, or am so busy that I don't have time to water during a particular week, that there is a flush of blooms as soon as I resume watering as usual. It could just be coincidence. I have dozens of obesum seedlings growing now from named hybrids, in the spring I intend on planting them out in the garden and see if I can get increased growth with free root run. There will probably be mainly inferior [flowers] seedlings so I don't mind some experimenting and then having to dig them out and repot in the fall. If I can get 3 or 4 keepers I will be happy. Have you ever tried putting your Adenium out in the "field" for the summer? I have a true soco that I stupidly left too close to a heater that is in my propagation area for the other Adenium, and all the leaves and half the growth tip dried out. The bottom half and the caudex are fine, I anticipate some branching in the summer as a result of this inadvertent pruning. 2 yrs ago I forgot about a Pacypodium lamereii that was left out and got hit with frost in the mid-20's. All the growth points died back, but then in the spring so many branches resulted that right now I may need to cut some back because they are interfering with each other! x

Hello Everyone, Hi Karen!!! My Adeniums are all inside since early November and they have dropped a few leaves, moreso than during the normal growing season. They all are still active and they are blooming as well. I do have them under lights and when they finally do show signs of going dormant, i will then put them aside and let them rest along with my Plumeria. I do give them less water in the winter, but they do get more attention then the Plumeria during the dormant cycle. Sounds good radovan!! Congratulations on having blooms up in Canada!! Hi there Sue and Karyn, great to see you posting about DR's. I think they are amazing plants, I really hope I can get one to flower at some point for me!! These guys have really been through the mill to get to this stage, earlier in the year I thought they were gonners, but the heated propagator bought them back from the brink of death. I started some others from seed a few weeks back but only got 3 to germinate this time....don't know what I was playing at as I later realised I'd had them too wet and too hot so they just rotted away....drat, a silly mistake to make. Karyn, how old are your seedlings that are blooming? These in the pics above were sown on 10th Feb '08. Would love to see some pics of yours if poss? Your new seedling with the variegated leaves looks really interesting...keep us posted on its progress please? Regards, Gill.
