Going on vacation, need help with watering ideas

I have one window box (plastic rectangle bought at a big box store) that I need to keep the plants watered while I'm away. The weather should top out around mid- to upper- 90's each day while I'm away with a chance of afternoon storms.

At big box stores I've seen something that looks like a plastic drink bottle that you fill with water and invert into the planter box. If I used my own bottles would this work? My concern is the water will drain out of the bottles the first day and the plants would then dry up after that. Now I water the container every day with about a quart of water and some of the plants look, well, not so great. No big loss if the plants die (6-pack annuals)

Any suggestions would be welcomed. And thanks in advance.
