Cactus Joe, I too am interested in your rock/water feature. It's very beautiful! Did all those smaller rocks come from your yard too? Do you get a lot of wildlife visiting this area? I don't know what I would do over. My gardens here at this house (oldest bed is 4 years old) are constantly changing. I think a great deal about the "bones" of my borders, which consist of shrubs and small trees, and a few large grasses and perennials. What to plant, where to put them. I take into consideration sun, soil, moisture, privacy and wind screen, wildlife value, native range, etc. Even so, I've moved and changed the bones! Last year I moved the Miss Kim Lilac over 5 feet. Dug out a forty year old Burning Bush and replaced it with a gorgeous Amelanchier. This year the Viburnum dentatum is being moved - because it's just gotten too big for it's location. The only thing growing in this yard that isn't subject to change are the established trees - kinda hard to move a 50 year old tree (however I've removed some of them, namely scraggly pines and Norway maples). It seems to be the nature of gardening and creativity - continually creating something new! I'm pretty comfortable with that.

Hello All! Before we retired to Colorado, I kept over 200 species or varieties of roses, and several hundred other plants in my gardens that had become dear to me. Well, I've done the crying part as the move was rather sudden and in the worst winter weather. Now, I need to start over. I have several hundred types of rose seeds, some open-pollinated, some hand pollinated, and most from the rarer roses of the world. I have these to trade. I am also a custom jeweler and have all that that subject entails to trade. I would love small rooted plants, of course, but cuttings and seeds are great too. I love all sedums, cacti/succulents, ROSES, daylilies (left some very rare ones behind and have none now), willows, bulbs, etc! Have a look at my tradelists and also at a web gallery of my recently sold jewelry work. I cut my own stones and do all of the metal work, as well. Just before deciding to retire, I spent some years as a freelance Landscape Designer (I'd be willing to do a design as a trade, as well, since I no longer do this professionally.) BTW, all gardening we do is entirely organic. I am a Master Herbalist so I grow (or grew) all of the herbs needed for my family, friends, landscape jobs, etc. I simply cannot allow harmful substances near any area where plants - herbs, fruit/veg, etc.- are being harvested. The herbs are grown for aesthetics, medicinal, culinary, craft (dyes, soaps, etc., and even for contact pesticides. Hi, We moved recently and I had to leave my beloved garden behind. I have sent plants for postage to several GW members and am hoping some one will circle back and do the same for me :) I am in dire need of sun perennials and bulbs (iris, day lily, dwarf cannas, clematis, passion vines..anything that won't self seed or grow beyond 3'!) I LOVE variegated and dark leaved plants! I will pay postage for a big box to be shipped to me or find something in the local area that you may need. I have starts of rare Jasmines - Mysore mulli, GD supreme ,sambac. I can send one plant in exchange for a big box of perennials.
