I have lots of extra seeds....

I tried posting this on the seed exchange forum, but I can't post there for some reason. I'm very new to gardening and I just started a lot of my plants indoors. I noticed that so many seed packets come with tons of seeds....more than my family can ever use even if the seeds last several years.

Here's some of the extras I have:

garlic chives, cilantro, sweet basil, oregano, spinach (Bloomsdale Long-Standing), arugula (Rocket), lettuce (Black seeded Simpson), bok choy (Joi Choi hybrid), habaneros, okra (Clemson Spineless), tomatillos, broccoli (Green Goliath), tomatoes (Super Beefsteak), Golden Grande onions, Sweet White Spanish Onions, green onions (Evergreen Long White Bunching)

If you think you could use some, drop me an email (bookstruck@yahoo.com) and I'll send you some. I don't really want anything in exchange, but feel free to suggest! I have a blog (www.joyfulfamilygarden.wordpress.com) and I'd love pics to add if you get a plant from my seeds.

Most all your seeds - with the exception of alliums like onions - are good for many years if properly stored (cool and dry). Many gardeners are still planting seeds that are several years old. :) No need to order every year and no need to give them away. Check out the Saving Seeds forum here for FAQs on proper seed storage.

PS: don't know why you couldn't post on the Exchanges forum. Unless you live in Canada it isn't restricted in any way.

PSS: your website address of www.joyfulfamilygarden.wordpress.com gives a 404 error - Site not found. That may be why you couldn't post if you included it in your post. It may be a blocked address for commercial reasons.

I can't post because it doesn't allow me to even type a message. I am in the US and I'm registered. How bizarre that when I go to my profile page, my blog won't even open (as you mention). It's really just comprised of simple pictures of my children and I planting and some details of what we are doing so we can chronicle what works and what doesn't.

I'm giving seeds away because I literally have hundreds and won't ever plant that many.

Sierra: Thank you for the advice, unfortunately I live in a remote hamlet in northern quebec where there is no dollar store, no canadian tire, no zellers or any other chain store. Here, there are only small corner type stores and a couple of general stores that sell basic groceries to green prarie boots. 2l of milk will cost you $5.69 . This is the true north strong and free (except for the cost of living ). When I do get a chance to get into the nearest city, which is 426 miles away, I love going to the dollar store(which is Dollarama, a quebec chain) however, I did not see any seeds for sale in the gardening section. By the way, did I tell you that there is no road to Blanc Sablon. You have to take a boat or a plane. Thanks for the interest. Rick

I would love some seeds & have some flowering seeds to trade.
Red Wood vine/Honeysuckle,Sassafras,raspberry,daffodils to name a few.
You should be able to email me from my page.
Some friends gathered seeds for the Pakistan flood victims last fall.
I never saw some many seeds in one place, from so many people before that.
Many of the farmers lost all their seeds, animals & barn in the flood.

Hi jolj! I would love some of the seeds you mention! My yard is so barren and I'm really looking to make it pretty. Just let me know what kind of seeds you'd like.

I see you also like the fig forum. I have a fig tree....currently supposedly dormant in my basement. I grew him from a twig from my in-laws tree and I can't believe how fast it's growing and how hearty it is. Right now, even in the basement it's grown by about two feet. I can't wait to put him out when the weather gets better.
