alwazeroom4more, The Pawpaw,Asimina triloba doesn't have a separate male and female plant.It's the way the flowers are timed to be fertile that causes them to need another variety to produce fruit.The Sunflower variety is about the only one I've heard to be self fertile. There are other species related to Asimina triloba (Asimina incarna, A. longifolia, A. obovata, A. parviflora, A. pygmaea, A. reticulata, A. tetramera, A. X nashii)that grow more in the Southeastern US.Asimina Triloba requires about 400 chill hours. I have some seedlings,three varieties of A.triloba,but not sure if they are compatible in your zone. Will these be blooming sized corms with the 2 leaves attached? For every trout lily that blooms there are hundreds of one leaf plants, the vast majority of which are sterile and actually never will bloom. Per the link below: Young, sterile plants send up a single leaf and these often grow in dense colonies. is why I'm asking. I have Clematis Montana Rubens. I planted it last year planning to let it grow up and over my garage doors, but realized this year that that side of the house really doesn't get enough sun. I also have hostas 'goober' and 'gold standard'. In a few weeks I'll be taking cuttings from most of my roses, and can either send cuttings or can root some for you to send this fall. PLMK. Thanks! Our pink lady slipper orchids have been nearly missing the last couple of years. I'm suspecting the drought is involved. When conditions are good, we have a bunch. We just spotted a couple of Carolina Lily, too. There aren't enough of those to dig, but I can keep an eye out for seed structures. I'm interested in bloodroot. All of our offerings are wild-growing on our land, so we must watch seasons for transplanting. Any suggestions on how to make lady's slipper propagate/transplant successfully?
