Suzy, Good luck with your new home, and have fun gardening!! I know you'll have a wonderful place. I wish you the best. Our garden has grown very slowly, partly because of poor preparation, partly because of summer drought, but when I look at it at least I can see there's a garden there and not the sun-blasted field we started with. I'm hoping that all the digging I'm doing this fall will improve rose growth significantly. The trees need to grow! Your remarks about the camera are noted. Actually for documentary purposes I could send out my husband with the camera; he likes to take pictures. "...my life work and legacy". Yes. Exactly. Sherry, I enjoy talking about garden design, thanks for inviting me to do so (again). Actually, Pam would be a good person to hear from, as she has a very large garden and many roses and is interested in garden design, I think. Oh, Niels!...in your photo the ground is so flat....and the dirt is so soft....and the grass is so full and free of weeds and so very neatly mowed! Obviously you live in a different rose universe than the one I inhabit. Your suggestion is a good one. My husband is talking about hiring a digger for the holes, and I think it's a great idea. Wow, should not have been gone so long. Look at all the beautiful rose pics I have been missing out on! They are BEAUTIFUL! Overall my babies did pretty good. Not as good as last years blooms and not as much growth as I had hoped for. I lost a few but replaced them with many, many more... Here is a pic this last season after more digging,planting and remodeling but before the nasty snow hit Here are a couple of my own seedlings grown from seed I live in a cold zone 4b. I do not protect my roses. I have been weeding out those that will not survive here and replacing them with zone 3-4 roses that need no protection. For the most part I will not know how my new babies will do until the new season. Last years zone 3-4 planted roses came back perfect this season. There was very little to no die back. I just want to say that I greatly appreciate everyone that has welcomed me but I want to say an extra thank you to skyblue52 -susan- for all her help and wonderful trade she did with me. From the start when I asked to join OBF Susan has ALWAYS answered all my questions, (no matter how goofy or how many.....and there were more then a few...lol), and she explained everything to me so I could get into March swap. She offered to do a trade with me and even explained all the steps to that. Being new at the gardening world I didn't have much to trade but even still she sent me seeds, seeds and more seeds!!! Even bags for storing my seeds, easter stickers, easter paper and a cute note! She definitely amazed me with what she sent me. Again I just want to say thank you to her for all her time and extra help and to everyone for letting me be a part of this wonderful world of OBF!!!! **AMBER**WOW!!!! U MADE MY DAY!!! THANK YOU!
