I had no success of growing squash on trellies. The best production I got isfrom the ones which had a lot of space to spread. However I grow cuccumber on trells works good. Dont try contaloup I made the mistake and I spent zillion hours building support for the hanging fruits. pain in the A

There's a Youtube video from growingyourgreens (John) that shows spaghetti squash growing on a trellis. And there are good sized squashes on the vines. The necks on spaghetti squashes are thick enough to hold up on the trellis. I'm considering trying it this year, but it will depend on space. I grow bush zucchini because they really don't take that much space, so there's no need of trellising them.

All the types you mention can be trellised, if you can find a vining zucchini. Some of the huge squashes would be problematic.

But keep in mind that squashes like to root along their nodes, and trellised vines can't do that.

Another fellow gardenmember knows John! Yea, he really pushes his luck! I'm going to do the same thing he does with his PVC trellis, but instead of netting it, I'm making the entire structure out of one inch PVC; should be very sturdy!

I've grown Waltham on a vine. It works fine, but you really need to keep on it because it wants to go eveywhere. I only grew it once and the yield seemed less than on the ground although one year isn't enough for a concrete answer. I have plenty of space so it's not an issue growing on the ground.

I've trellised butternut. Yet better is to have it climb on to a sunny deck or porch. Less bugs and cleaner squash.

Uncle has an interesting point. We lived in New Orleans years ago and people would grow mirlitons on trellises. The vines were enormous. Folks would train them up 4x4 posts and then they would spread out over lattice work "roofs". The fruit would hang down through the lattice.
People had small yards there, and the narrow strips of land along the side of the house was popular for this treatment. I cannot see why it wouldn't work for winter squash, except for the fact that it wouldn't get to root into the ground, and as long as your "roof" has large enough openings for the squash.
