[Pic] What's Cookin' GW ? [Pic]

Innovative Dave (AKA Dave) noticed my shop oven in a recent post & suggested using it to germinate...... I did just that!(no,I don't actually turn the oven on!)Could fit two flats, if I did some rearranging....I now have capacity to germinate 5 flats simultaneously. Woo! Hoo!

I never thought of that! Just remember to look inside before preheating it to cook dinner! Nancy

That's my main fear Nancy! I don't use that oven much, but I can just see myself accidentally turning it on........ :( Oh well, I'm starting onions in there, so I'll just throw a roast in with them!

Sue, I didn't know there is an option for "members only" to see my email add. You have it figured out now though...right? Let me ask you a Question. When you start a thread, do you get the replies sent to your email? I often have the follow-up replied sent to my email. It really depends upon the thread I start. If it is a trade post, or an actual gardening question, I do check the box for follow-ups. If it is for providing info (like the !@#$ Postage mess) or just a friendly chatter type post here on Conversations, I don't check the box. If I start a review thread for a member at The Rate and Review Forum I don't check the box, though I have noticed that some other members do occasionally. I sure don't want someone elses reviews coming into my email for years to come. I used to a long time ago and then it stopped. (could it be when I removed my email address?) I'm not sure, but I rather doubt it. A long time ago, maybe 2 years or so, the follow-ups started to be unreliable about coming through to the email. I'm not sure if they are now all reliably coming through or not. Sue...off to email you now

Thanks It's been way too hot to do much of anything here.106 and muggy today. I have one grandchild,a 4 year old boy. No chance that his mom will let me give it to him.... :o) Might paint it and plant it for the patio. I have about 13 BB's around the yard and I think I'll leave this on the way it is.I really love the color. Julie

I was using photo bucket and tiny pic before using the HTML code and they worked. Not sure what has changed in my computer...the pics do show just fine when I preview, does nothing when I hit submit. Any ideas? Thanks!

War_Eagle, there was an existing house on the property that we tore down to build ours. The trees were a large part of the reason we bought the property and I hope they'll still be here after we're gone. We had an arborist out just after we closed on the property, the same day as the surveyor. Our house is mostly on the same footprint as the prior house -- in fact, the tree near the garage was right up against the old house (you could easily touch the trunk while standing in the house) so they had to be extra careful during demo. Our builder felt confident about protecting the trees, they were fenced off, etc. With respect to excavation, we don't have a basement and they dug by hand if they were near the roots. I think at the breezeway there was a root in the grade beam pour so they wrapped the root to allow for some movement. I hope the all the trees make it. Good luck!

Now there's an original thought sunnibel! Since I operate under the influence of Murphy's Law, I prolly should do just that! (or start some carrots with my onions........)

See. Thinkin' outside the box works. Next year, if we can get you to quit using those domes, you can fit 4 trays in there - 2 on each shelf. :-)

Just put a piece of of your left over duct tape over the oven controls as a reminder.

If your stove has knobs, just pull off the knobs for the oven controls and stick them in a drawer. That's what I do for burners that I don't want used because I've got something on top of them.

If it's digital, I suppose you could stick some electric tape over the control to remind you! :)

Ha,ha...was thinking I'm the only cheap-o that start seeds that way,but since I charred Chard last year...now I'm only using the heat/steam vent @ the back of the stove,so far sprouted broccoli in 4 days that way:)
