Has anyone else traded with Kathleen Bischoff (gardenlady1948)

Up until now, I have to have problem sending plants to people who have little to offer. I remember when that was me so I don't mind helping out. However, when I've been advantage off that really bothers. I sent plants to this person and she was suppose to send me postage. She got the plants, but didn't send the postage and has since ignored my emails.

I'm not sure your post makes a lot of sense. I think you meant to say, "Up until now I haven't had a problem sending plants to people who have little to offer"? and "However, when I've been 'taken advantage of', that really bothers." If I interpreted it correctly, please do the following: Go to the Rate & Review Forum and write a review of this trader. Read the instructions carefully and state you problem clearly. You can say, " I did a trade with Ms. Jones. I sent geraniums and daisies. She was supposed to return my postage. I sent her five emails and she has not replied. I would not recommend her for a trade. " After you post on the Rate & Review forum, cut and paste the post to an email and send it to her. Use the link below to go to Rate & Review.

There does not appear to be a member by the name of gardenlady1948. Might that be a part of her email addy, or her name spelled similar to that? I'm sorry you have had problems trying to get the postage reimbursed. I learned long ago, that it is wisest to collect the postage up front. If there is any overage, I then can just drop it into the box before closing it up. Please post again if/when you find her exact member name. Possibly someone will know something about her whereabouts, and if you like I will email her myself, trying to get a reply. Sue...resident busy body

Wow, what an exciting thread. From reading your post, toyon, you could work with me on the border. I'm an Agricultural Inspector at the Truckee Border Station. You've given a lot of, and good advise here. For the most part, the plants named at the beginning of this thread are not resitricted, but as has been said earlier in this post, it's mostly about the soil. If you can bare root the plants, they should be o.k. to bring in. That being said, if you enter CA, and an inspector notices signs of disease or other pest, the plants may be confescated right there... We always try to encourage any new resident who is transporting plants to CA, to contact their County Agricultural Commissioner, not just for inspection, but, if you can begin discussion with them, they may be able to help you with future plant/pest questions. I did want to respond to the cactus question, however. The only restrictions on cacti from AZ...and interior regulations in CA, is the type of cactus. There are endangered species of cactus in our surrounding areas. If the cactus is purchased by a reputable dealer, and has an accompanying certificate, there should really be no problem, the problem comes from digging up potentially endangered species. It is great for me to read a thread that has so much support for the border inspectors and our purpose. Sometimes we feel that much of CA doesn't really know what we do out here, or why. Susan gives a lot of info above. Basically, after you make the cut you trim your piece so that it will fit into your envelope. Then you wrap the bottom end in wet paper towel and then in plastic wrap. I would then wrap or bundle the total group in newspaper. Also, please label them. My last batch from Susan were tied together with string and labeled with a masking tape piece that went around and doubled back on itself. On that she had written Spice for those 3 cuttings or Ms Atwood for that one cutting and so on. The idea is to keep the ends moist. Package it up and ship it off. You can see that this is a morning job, for the most part. Hint: If you get yours from others first you can see how they have done it and then use or tweak that method. Another thing is when your cuttings arrive, it is important that you open asap and immerse them in water. You can then take a little while to get them potted up. You can also refrigerate them for a little while, but it is best to pot them up as soon as you can. Life has been known to intervene, though.

I'm a dork. For a moment I couldn't figure out what was so funny about Cox. Why did tishtoshnm get it and I didn't? Ooooohhhhhh. Got it :)! I had suggested the name Arwen and DH said no. He's a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan since childhood. Such a pretty name. Bronwyn (fair breast and dark hair) was a name that came up regularly as she was a character in a book that DH read as a kid. Just weren't sold on it though. We were literally still deciding up until I was wheeled in for my C-section. We said 'No - it's going to be Eleri - we've thought about it too long'. When she came out DH said 'Honey - she has fair skin and dark hair'. I wanted to strangle him. Anele - you got it! The kid is 5 and one of our friends still calls him Glocklin. 'He's not a gun' we keep teling her. He was on meds when he was a baby and CVS was HORRIBLE at getting his name right on the script. Our last name is Todd so guess where it always ended up? I finally gave up on them because I was tired of telling them over and over that Todd is his LAST name not his first and to fix it.

I traded with Kathleen in June and everything went fine. She's a new trader and she sent me exactly what I asked for, generous clumps of echinacea, well packaged + extras.

Thanks christie sw mo for letting me. I sent her plants in early June. Received an email that she that had got them and would be sending me the postage. That was on June 13, I sent her a reminder email on June 29. Haven't heard a thing since, thought she might be blowing me off.

i generally don't freak til one month. then i do. but i do send a email letting them know i post on the rate and review and what i'm going to post. and let them know that i hope that everything is ok. then if i do post, because they have'nt come thru, and then they do, i ask for the post to be removed. if it doesn't. i post that it was sent, some things had happened. that's my .02 hope that helps any. ~Medo

I only had one person who did something like this. He literally replied back to me and said that he didn't feel like he had to send anything in return. I had emailed him multiple times letting him know my physical address to mail either the seeds or postage -

I apologize for the evocative nature of one of the member's posts regarding a failed trade. I was having a bit of trouble getting my seed trades, with he and two others, put in the mail in a timely manner. Following a number of harassing and threatening emails, I decide to forget about the whole thing.
This makes me a bad prospect for seed trades. I'll admit that.
It does not make me a rapist, nor does the court that tried me, nor does the unfortunate woman who falsely accused me. I am not ashamed to have this article shown, as it represents an error in American justice, and there are many many more men out there who have been railroaded in this manner, and need not fear shame or reprisal at the hands of vigilantes. I have asked this garden web user, whose post you may have seen, to stop harassing me. I apologize to the two others who never got their seeds exchanged, but I had lost patience with the process, following the flurry of emails, including a threat to come all the way to Omaha to deal physically with the return postage. I will go back over my emails and send appropriate cash remunerance to those who got lost in the mad shuffle precipitated by one skunk of a trader. My attorney has been notified of this further slanderous activity by reyna1,and I'll be keeping an eye out around my home and work too.
I've affixed a few other articles regarding my actual life, which includes a more recent story from the Lincoln Paper.
you may have to cut and paste into your browser, but the truth is I am a real person, and have done fund raising benefits for a number of years to help out women who are subject to violence, as well as other social justice issues. It sickens me the way this has gotten out of hand, and I would gladly buy my seeds in the future.

Me... I save myself allot of trouble by having postage sent to me first, If someone can't do that then there is no deal. I too have been burnt one too many times, I don't make a big deal out of it because there are way too many good and fair traders out there. For every bad apple there are hundreds of wonderful gardeners and traders out there.
