Watering tulips at temps close to freezing

I got two months delayed planting tulips this fall, I'm almost finished now. I've added slow-release fertilizer while planting but hesitated to water because freezing temps were expected. However, the forecast has changed and the lowest temps we are expecting in the next five days is one degree above freezing. I guess I can safely water my tulips? I have sandy soil in the garden (slightly amended for the tulips, though) so the water should drain fast.
