Planting bags for lettuce

New container gardener here!

I bought one of these planter bags on sale to try out in my garden - http://www.gardeners.com/salad-planting-bags/38-181,default,pd.html Anyone else use these? If so, I would love to see pictures of your garden or hear any tips. I plan to try out some leaf lettuces. My garden has "light shade" (dappled light most of day with 2-3 hours of good sun in the late afternoon). Begonias have done well in past, so I'm going to give the lettuce a try.

A couple questions -- Do I need to line the bag with gravel or anything of that sort to keep the soil from falling out the holes? Also, maybe this is an uncommon problem, but I really liked the idea of the bag because it can be folded up when not in use... but if I fold it up, where will I put the soil? (I have a patio only, no yard, although I do have a shed) Would something like this hold up outside over the winter with snow and all?
