Need landscaper in NE metro Atlanta
Comments (3)I don't know if Cummings GA is near you but if it is I would highly recommend Lee Anne White : http://www.leeannewhite.com/gardens/ She has an amazing eye for detail, has wonderful follow-through, is a joy to work with, and is multi-talented. She comes with distinguished credentials having been the editor for Fine Gardeneing Magazine and the editor / writer/ designer/ photographer for a dozen garden and garden related books by Taunton Press. She is highly respected by her professional peers in the landscape architectural, design and photography fields. A real pro to work with....See MoreHalo Hydrangeas At Atlanta Metro Nurseries?
Comments (7)butterflylion--- Please don't pass up a plant you like and want to try, based upon my opinions. I haven't tried any of the Halo series of Hydrangeas and probably won't in the near future. I have several Hydrangeas that I really admire, but that is also a matter of personal preference. Hyd. mac. 'Miss Belgium'(Red mophead)I grow it in a pot, so that the soil pH can be easily regulated. Hyd. mac. 'Endless Summer'(mine is blue, always covered in blooms and recovers nicely from a late spring freeze). Hyd. mac. 'Hanabi'(a/k/a 'Sumida-no-hanabi', a/k/a 'Fireworks'). Often mislabeled and sold as 'Fuji Waterfall'(NOT). Hyd. mac. (no name)Pink Lacecap from Middleton Plantation, SC (2 clones, one has a darker color eye in each sterile floret). Hyd. quercifolia. 'Harmony' Hyd. serrata 'Woodlanders' (a cultivar grown from seed collected by the Chollipo Botanical Gardens/Arboretum, Korea and introduced by Woodlanders, Aiken, SC). Hyd. serrata 'Little Geisha' (dwarf mophead serrata, blooms emerge pink, later turn white). Hyd. serrata 'Fuji Waterfall' Some that I have experienced multiple failures with, in addition to 'B&B'/'Harlequin'/'Monrey', was 'Sister Theresa', 'Claudie', 'Hornli', 'Sun Goddess', 'Shirotae', 'Taube', Tovelit', 'Lemon Wave' and other little known Japanese cultivars. I am about ready to toss my 'Lemon Zest', as they are not performing well and after 4 years, no blooms. If I like the flowers or foliage on a Hydrangea, I often will try several, before admitting defeat, if they fail. Good gardening!...See MoreFab Flower Pots In Metro Atlanta?
Comments (14)Hello Butterflylion: Damn! I was going over there later today to get some more too! They really were too good a deal to last long. Thanks for the heads up; saved me some gas. I have been using bricks for those which sit in mulched beds (can't see the bricks), and clay pot feet for those which stand on the patio and on the brick walk. The pot feet are cheap and elegant, but very hard to find. They also have the advantage of preventing any (pot shaped)stains on whatever surface you put your pots on and/or prevent the (?) from rooting into the soil underneath the pot. Well worth the trouble and they last forever. The last batch that I got, I ordered from the Star Nursery in CA. Their number is: 1-866-584-7827 ext. 41. Ask for David. The SKU # is 853349 for one inch mini pot feet. They are $2.49 per set of three plus shipping (easier to just get a bunch at once). Or, you could probably also use some upended, cheap, clay pot saucers (50 cents at the Home Depot) to achieve the same thing. I know this is probably more than you wanted to know, but I had the receipt right in front of me and couldn't resist. Have a great weekend!...See MoreSnow in November in Atlanta Metro!!!
Comments (8)Hey Guys, If it does snow,it will be the earliest that it has ever snowed in the Atlanta area ever. The weather man on one of the local news channel said it will go on record for the earliest snowfall in the Atlanta metro. If your driving through Atlanta be careful, people here cant drive in snow or freezing rain,LOL. I meet people all the time that tell me I thought it was warm down here.People move here from different places up north, and find out real quick that it does get cold here. They will find out just how cold it does get Wed.and Thu night.I tell people if you dont like the weather, just wait a few days and it will change. This time of year it can be 70f today and 40f tomorrow. That's the problem with growing palms here. You cant build a major structure around your palms because you will have to more than likely take it back apart in a few days.Once you do that 5 or 6 times, you come up with easier protection methods.
