Earthtainer Self-Watering Container - Ideal Mix?

As Ray has tested, the 3:2:1 non-moisture control potting mix:bark fines:perlite seems to be an ideal mixture for Earthtainers. This combination is said to be 'just right' for moisture uptake and retention in the unit.

I've not been able to find the smaller pine bark nuggets that are the size of a dime, so I bought a used shredder\chipper yesterday and sucked up and ground-up a 3cuft bag of bark chips with it today. This produced pieces dime-sized and smaller (about 75% of which is smaller sand grain-sized to everything in between). Is this OK for the ideal EarthTainer mix? There's a screen thing in the chipper that I can remove that should yield more of the larger dime sized pieces I think. I've never owned a chipper before and am just getting used to it. I hope the extra-fine bark will be suitable. Please let me know before I start mixing up the ingredients. I will be re-using the peat-perlite-vermiculite soil mix I used last year with the bark extra-fines and more perlite.
