Bulbs in Urns Left Outside Over Winter

I have 3 large urns that are weather-proof that I keep outside year-round by the garage doors. This fall I want to plant them with different types of spring flowering bulbs such as tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and maybe allium. Would they be okay to leave outside throughout the winter. I am near St Louis and between zones 5 and 6. Would it help to put a layer of bubble wrap inside of the pot around the sides prior to the potting soil to help insulate the bulbs? My garage is insulated and may not get cold enough for the bulbs and wasn't sure if leaving them in urns vs in the ground would kill them before spring. I tried bulbs in a pot years ago and left the pot outside, but the bulbs never did bloom in the spring. Any feedback/thoughts? Thanks in advance. Bob
