Green Sprouting is an antique form of broccoli. It is similar to Calabrese but shorter days to heading. Small central heads but produces lots of sideshoots. I have not grown it but have grown Calabrese. Big plant that produces side shoots for a long time under the proper conditions. Munchkin is also an open pollinated cultivar touted for its small plant size. Not much information about it and I have never grown it. It would less production per plant, but the plants can be planted much closer together. For me side shoot production is severely curtailed in fall plantings, but I don't know your area.

I am so excited!! I have harvested 2 different vegies . red romaine and arulua (sp) today! My firsts! The broccoli will be ready to harvest next week! I am sooo excited! Maryann

The heads will start to break open and yellow flowers will start to show. Left long enough and they become inedible. Pick out the main head, new second growth will start at the leaf joints which can extend the harvest quite a long time.
