Feeding flowering annuals that don't like fertilizer

Some annuals such as morning glory and moon flowers don't like fertilizer as it promotes more green foliage and fewer flowers. So for these types of annuals I'll stay away from MG and such. What I'm not sure of is whether or not organic fertilizer such as Neptunes Harvest would also be something to avoid. The nitrogen content is not very high in NH so I would "assume" it would be beneficial for flowering plants that don't like fertilizers. What would be the best feeding, if any for morning glory and other plants in this catagory?

Please don't start a discussion on organic gardening vs. chemical gardening that's for another forum:).
