yellow flowers on my morning glories

I planted my morning glories from seeds, and they have been doing wonderfully since they sprouted about five days after i planted them, which was pretty exciting for me considering that this is the first summer i decided to take up gardening, and had no clue on the best ways to do it. they are still doing well, and have climbed all over my patio, and have been flowering for a few weeks now. BUT...on all the plants at lesat two leave at a time turn yellow, and eventually die....i usually pinch them off once they start yellowing...I thought maybe they didnt have enough soil (i have three plants to a window box) but i added soil to the rim...I give them tons of water...other than the yellow leaves, they are fine, but id love to stop the problem!

any ideas?

hi. first, are the yellowing leaves near the bottom? if so, don't worry too much. this is pretty common. also, you should maybe cut back on watering (not enough so they'll wilt but not excessively either) and try to water the foilage itself as little as possible.
i planted mine a month ago - they have nearly reached the sky but no flowers yet. when they flower it should be amazing (i hope) and will post a pic. i used a huge piece of the wire grating (?) stuff builders use when pouring cement sidewalks, cut it with metal cutters to fit an arch in the side wall and the foilage is just filling up like mad. i too have a few yellow ones at the bottom but just leave them. also, i planted a variety (from seed) of purple and orange ones according to the pic on packet (ipomea mixed compositae) from seed to just wanter around the garden and am waiting to see the results!

The problem might be too much hot wind.I'll recommend you soak this plant in the morning and in the evening-try to water the base of the plant and not get the flower buds wet.Avoid too much fertilizer...MG's bloom better with lower nitrogen.

Morning glory leaves yellowing and wilting

Looks like it could be spider mite damage on the leaves. They like hot dry weather. You could try spraying the leaves with water using a hand-held or bottle pump sprayer out of the sun and if that doesn't help, you could try commercial insecticidal soap (if they application includes treating mites) and/or a pyrithrin and/or neem product. If you use any of these, make sure to do it with the plant out of the sun (either overcast day or in the evening and/or any time the sun will not hit the plant).
