Your orchid is a Phalaenopsis and it looks to be doing wonderfully. In the last pic I can see 2 flower spikes starting (one to left above the first leaf node and one to the right just above the mix along the main 'stem'). I think most people would have put styrofoam peanuts in the bottom instead of gravel as the styro allows for more air flow. You should water when the plant dries out, the best way to tell is by lifting the pot and checking the weight (you'll get the 'feel' for it pretty quick) but some people put a wooden skewer in the pot at all times and when pulled out and it is dry, then water. I generally water my potted phals about every 7 days. If it were my phal, I would let things be and be careful with the watering, more phals die from too much water than from too little. Well . . . if the plant has no chloroplasts (bodies which contain the chlorophyll) at all in it then it can't make its own food. You could potentially keep it growing for a few years, but eventually it will become impossible. If you put a portion of the plant into tissue culture media and supply it with nutrients it will theoretically live and grow. It is rather technical to post the details here, but "Plants from Test Tubes" by Kyte and Kleyn has very detailed instructions. It's worth checking out from the l;ibrary or on inter-library loan to find out.

First thing you need to look at is your water. Liverworts are very susceptible to the types of salts in water. So it is best to use distilled or r/o water only. Secondly, check out my recent thread on growing Marchantia. You need to take the liverwort off of the old soil that is in the pot you purchased. Then get some sand, creek or river only and mix with some peat moss. And probably divide the clump up into 2 pots. Make a depression in the sand mix and press in the liverwort. Water and bag into a one gallon sized bag and put in a spot that gets a couple of hours of direct sun on a northern exposure. Give it time.

As Barb said - plant it and in the best well drained soil spot you have. You might want to wash away most of the existing potting media just before planting so the roots can come into better contact with the native soil, If your soil is dry, soak the planting hole a day ahead and get it saturated well with moisture. This will also tell you how well drained your soil is. Might try planting just before some cool, damp, cloudy weather if that's possible. I'd select a site with some high afternoon shade as well.
