It IS a campanula or bellflower. It is a form of Dalmatian bellflower, Campanula portenschlagiana 'Get Mee'. These are often found in grocery stores as potted gift plants and can be enjoyed indoors then planted in the garden. Indoors, provide bright but indirect light and avoid high heat. Keep soil moist. Outdoors plant in full to partial sun. These are very hardy garden perennials.

Well . . . if the plant has no chloroplasts (bodies which contain the chlorophyll) at all in it then it can't make its own food. You could potentially keep it growing for a few years, but eventually it will become impossible. If you put a portion of the plant into tissue culture media and supply it with nutrients it will theoretically live and grow. It is rather technical to post the details here, but "Plants from Test Tubes" by Kyte and Kleyn has very detailed instructions. It's worth checking out from the l;ibrary or on inter-library loan to find out.

Birdtalker; Don't bring them inside. They'll be much easier to care for over the winter if you let them go dormant. Bringing them inside where its warm is an invitation for spider mites to suck them dry. I don't know how cold zone 7 gets; they may be just fine in large pots on your deck, but if you want to be safe you should consider moving them to an unheated garage in their pot. You could also dig a big hole, and bury the pot in the ground over the winter. Either way, just make sure they get a little water, and they should be fine! Good luck! Lara

i'm in adrian MI ... C laws will not live thru the winter in most of MI ... the crypto is micro climate dependent ... it can not go outside until at least june ... in the meantime... need to know if there are holes in those pots ... if not.. you have drainage problems ... they need to be near a south window.. for lots of sun ... but not so close that they might get cold damaged if you thermostat kicks down at night ... especially if your windows ice ... my biggest problem in winter.. is the forced air furnace ... not much humidity in the house in winter.. for plants that need such ... as i said... tend toward dry .. insert finger and find out ..... and also learn the weight of a wet vs dry pot ... if you can get it thru late spring... past all frost/freeze issues ... then you can put it outside in full bright shade ... and plan on planting it in early fall ... we need a better pic ... to confirm an ID ... bottom line.. enjoy the heck out of it ... and dont get emotionally attached ... you might win.. you probably wont .... but you will learn along the way ... these plants were sold as short lived holiday plants ... not really meant to be long lived ... ken
