larke: thanks for pointing out that. i think you may be right - malus leaves should have serrated margins. goodstav: we do have a big mature surinam cherry here and the bonsai in question does resemble it. also, according to the information on this link http://fichas.infojardin.com/bonsai/eugenia-uniflora-manzana-de-agua-bonsai.htm, Eugenia uniflora can be trained as a bonsai and it has a common name in spanish as "manzana de agua", which might help explain why it was wrongly labeled as "apple". the origin of our bonsai is china, though...

Those are definitely NOT a branded factory cabinet! They may even have been constructed oin -site. Nothing special here - they are just MDF with white laminate on top. The edging is most likely solid oak but could be veneer too, it's hard to tell from my desk. Anyway - these were almost certainly made locally by a shop that does a lot of commercial work, call the builder of your place and he can probably direct you to the source. Even if this is not possible, any cabinet shop with even basic talent can replicate these. Be aware that the white laminate will not match exactly even if you get the same exact brand. The stuff you have will have yellowed over time from UV exposure.

Hi... my suggestion would be to find local clubs to join, learn all you can about bonsai in general (read lots of books, not just 1-2 because they'll all have diff. viewpoints and you want some consensus on things). After you know it all :), you'll have a better idea of what to do when with which trees, and what not to do. I would shorten most of those branches however. But don't try to do everything all at once... the tree doesn't know or care that you're in a hurry, but if you mess up it'll let you know and it'll be too late. You need to know about climates, indoor environments, lighting, temps, humidity (vs watering), watering (the hardest thing to get right ever), which trees to keep in and which to keep out when and where and why. Pruning for shape is not the be all and end all, and Mr. Miyagi was an actor ;). Go find the clubs, then take your tree in to a meeting when they say it's the right time to do it, and listen. Better to have a dorky looking thing (like the above) for a while than getting it wrong - you can't glue branches back on :). And right now keeping your tree alive is the important thing. Good luck!

Hello, First time posting to the discussion board. I am in the process of purchasing a new home and want to simply replace the shower trim pieces to another style and color. I have 2 questions; 1. Can someone please help me identify the brand these current handles are, and/or replacements that will work with them? 2. Can someone help me understand this system - looks like there is a temperature knob (bigger handle), then a flow knob for each the shower head, wand, and bath faucet - so overall 4 handles.
