repotting Japanese maple

geoman

I am a relative newcomer to bonsai, and need some help with the timing for repotting a Japanese maple.

I have successfully overwintered 3 bonsai on my unheated porch, using a heater and a frost setting thermostat, for the past two winters. Temperatures on the porch were at 31-41 degrees most of the winter, but we had an unusual warm spell in late February, and now my Japanese maple has begun to develop buds (but has not yet leafed out). I can easily keep the porch above freezing now, so can I repot the maple at this time, or should I wait a few weeks? (Outside temepratures are currently ranging from 15 - 45 degrees). Thanks.
