DIY Hose Pot (hose holder)

Has anyone made a hose pot from a plastic planter pot? Hose pots are usually plastic or metal, with or without lids (I prefer a lid) & some have a hole in the lower side for the hose to connect to the faucet then the rest of the hose is coiled up inside. They range from $40-$200 & average 18"diameter x 11-12"High. I'd like a durable/pretty/cheaper one to hold my 100' garden hose.

I was thinking of using a large plastic planter with drainage holes, drilling a hole in the side...IF I can find something to make a heavier lid out of...maybe a large Terra Cotta saucer or a resin stepping stone with a knob attached?

Anyone made one? Any of u ultra creative people have a better idea? Thx!
