The Wallpaper Revival
Comments (18)I hear ya- both sides of this discussion. I did paper my foyer/hallway.stairway with a beautiful tone on tone ivory stripe paper which still is stunning.......the only issue is that after 25 plus years some of it is not hanging great and also some has been marked up. I know for a painted staricase it would have had to have been repainted at least twice (probably more) in that time frame. However, we have had it removed in our kitchen and although the walls were sized, it was really quite a task (and we did not do ourselves). In a month or two I am having it removed from the hallway and am really dreading that ordeal. I really do love the look of paper and even maybe prefer it to paint- so much warmer and also less maintenance. ... but SO not looking forward to the removal and I hear most people say they would never want to remove it . I think in our next house I will be very hesitant to paper- probably limit it to powder room. But I am happy to hear it is inching its way back into be ok. Good point about finding wallpaper hangers though!...See MoreWallpaper in attic room
Comments (21)Ninigret.. Thank you it really is a great space, and will be even better once it is done.. There is a larger matching attic room opposite it which will be the next project.. Here are some pics of what we started with.. SJS..the room is 12 X 8 and when we gutted it we raised the ceiling up a bit but as with an attic space you can only go so high. I had considered putting a thick trim molding up on the flat part to help give some definition but reconsidered as I feared it would make it feel lower rather than higher... The first pic is the room we are currently doing, the other two are its longer match which will be next.. Both show how the ceilings and walls used to be.....See MoreWallpaper over vinyl, or wallpaper over paper backing/paste?
Comments (8)I don't think I can get the paper wallpaper backing/wallpaper paste to release from the paper coating of the faux wood paneling. They've essentially fused to become one. If I try to remove all of the paper, and clean it, I'm certain I will end up with badly damaged paneling. I really think the only options are paper over paper, or paper over paste. I just need help understanding which is best of these two options....See MoreButcher Block counter / Wallpaper accent wall for office
Comments (12)Hello! Just an update to the original post. My 8.5 month pregnant wife and I put some sweat equity into our new home build today. Peel and stick wallpaper from the Scott Brothers collection. It was not as easy and fun as the all of the YouTubers claimed but we persevered and are happy with the result. Wife gets all the credit. Thankfully we chose an option without a repeating pattern that needed to perfectly line up. 30” base drawer/cabinet on either end of wall with stained butcher block countertop and two floating shelves planned....See MoreLB Interiors
