Should light fixtures go in before or after floors are finished?
Comments (5)The electrician should take care not to damage the floors, and the builder should make sure of that. If something can be easily covered but difficult to clean, like a chandelier (loop it near the ceiling and cover it with a plastic bag), covering might be fine. But I can't imagine trying to cover the number of ceiling lights and sconces I have in my house. I would leave it up to the builder, letting him know you expect (1) undamaged floors and (2) clean light fixtures, whatever, he decides....See Morebefore and after kitchen - WAC monorail lights
Comments (2)cdigs Thanks. The cabinets are new. You are right somehow those tiles just blended just right. i was contemplating for months before the renovation started, whether or not to change the flooring, i'm happy how it turned out. I have had no issues with shadows on the wac monorail, the light is dispersed evenly throughout the room, and it bounces nicely off the cabinets. The monorail really warms up the space nicely. Comments (9)Actually, since the windows are already there and it doesn't sound like you'll be moving them, you should probably take daylight into consideration when planning the furniture layout. When seated at a desk, it's best to have the windows to one side or the other -- neither directly behind nor in front of the desk, if it can be helped. If the window is behind you then you can expect to see it reflected in your computer screen, obscuring whatever is being displayed there. If it's in front of you, it will be so bright at times that you'll be squinting to see the relatively dim screen. Light coming from the side is much nicer....See MoreBefore and after of new /old hall bench
Comments (20)I love pew benches and you got a nice one! Great job on the find and the work you put in. Can you please share, what is "waterlox"? Is it some kind of paste for wood? We have a pew bench too. We picked it up while living in NC and it was way too long. The guy offered to cut it down for us and we let him. We have carted it to every home we have lived in. I love the character of the wood as well as knowing it holds a story from the people that used to sit in it....See MorePatricia Keating
