I spray painted our breakfast chairs different colors, one of which is what I call Chinese orange. (the others are hot pink, purple, and yellow) I got the paint from Lowe's -- super easy, super fabulous. It might be a stronger orange than you want (they have a few different oranges, though). I love paint because if you don't like it, paint it again! But sometimes we *need* that shot of color, and if you're craving orange chairs I say "go for it!" And don't forget to post pics, please.

Hi Tina, no, I wish I was leaning towards the cottage style but our house is saying no. With it's oak kitchen cabinets (that DH won't let me touch grrr) and colonial style, it's screaming more traditional, rustic or even a little bit country (hopefully french). The problem I'm having is I fully intended to go with the off white look cause that's what we've always had and are used to. However when I started looking for new chairs, the majority of what I like is in black or wood only. I prefer to avoid going with wood because between the floors and cabinets I'm afraid it will just be too much. And I don't want to try to match any paint treatment the off white chairs may have on the table. Black is basically the easiest way to go or have a white farm table with wood chairs with the hopes it will be enough white to tone down all the wood? I'm in a quandary with it, can you tell? LOL Your chairs and table idea sounds lovely. With as long as you've been wanting them, I'm sure they will make your heart sing after you have them in place. You are so lucky that you KNEW what you wanted and what your space needed!!! In addition to the table and chairs we too need a second piece in our little dining area. I've been looking for a hutch I can spruce up for months now. Sometimes the process can be so dragged out, it seems like it will never come together huh? I think the black will actually work better in our space than the off white because we have dark counters and black trim on our SSL appliances. I just can't seem to visualize this room as finished the way I could other rooms in our house. :c(

For comfort, a chair needs to have arms. In a dining room, choose a pair of chairs that work with your dining set and buffet and could be used at the "heads" of the table should you need to squeeze in a couple of more people by adding chairs to the sides of the table. As long as it works with your dining set, is painted the same color or a coordinating color, the height doesn't matter as much ... but I'd consider shorter wider seats (than the chair shown) with arms the better choice.

I like the chairs. but I'd get them sprayed in a lighter teal color. I think that would look great. for the fabric on the seats, bring in the mustard or gold. Or, since you have the blue and pink in the art, go w/the pink color instead of the gold This material would be perfect w/the wall and the table. and works w/the reddish tones of the wood. you may be able to keep your chairs as is if you did this on the seat. or just paint them white https://www.perigold.com/decor/pdp/rm-coco-suite-queens-garden-fabric-rcoc3819.html spray the chairs a robin egg blue and add this material. stunning. bring in a white rug you can lacquer them or use a good spray. Valspar has some nice colors in their spray. I actually combined those exact two colors with a dresser I did. this teal was more blue than yours, but the robins egg would work w/your colors There is also a place that will put any color in a spray can for you. Amy Howard has lacquer in a can, but to do all of those wouldn't be cheap! After spraying, I'd redo the seats. those are actually really easy to do yourself. just go find some fabric of course you could always buy new chairs.
