I was asking recently about a hood and small pendants (older thread). My solution involves the symmetry of two small pendants working with the hood. I like high-hats for their unobtrusive lighting, but my personal taste is to have something decorative providing some light and some style at the same time. I say yes, do a pendant. It's hard to visualize your space, but from the description I'm thinking a long bar light over the peninsula, and the hood over the island.

Absolutely, why not? The trend is now in mixing materials.

It's $100 more on that site! We have a contractors account at Ferguson, so could possibly save even more money. Thank you. We are trying to keep the fixture under $1000. What bothers me about the Feiss fixture is that it says the back plate is only 1/4" thick. That doesn't seem possible. Also, it doesn't look like the bulbs would be easy to change. However, we plan on using candlelight LED bulbs that should last a few years. To your concern, wdccruise. The light is rated for downlight. We really want it for atmosphere lighting, as we will have another fixture on the front stoop to light the way. And with the seeded glass, low candlelight bulbs, and the fact that we normally do not leave our outside lights on all night, I don't think there is a worry for my neighbors. But that is something to consider with a fixture featuring stronger bulbs.
