Finished compost will look like dark, rich soil no matter the source. If you find evidence of what went into the compost when it is supposed to be finished it isn't. Compost from manure should not, ever, have any identifiable pieces of the manure (ie. road apples) or the bedding in it, it you can see that it is not finished compost and you should be paid for taking it off the sellers hands.

I have received two "Guernsey Cream" from Birdsongfarm.com, they may be sold out now also. They seem to be very popular at the moment. I have never ordered from Wayside Gardens because the prices do seem high to me compared to other online nurseries. I did purchase two from a Ebay seller, they were very small, and so far are not showing alot of growth, I'm hoping they are just growing roots. They are healthy looking plants though small. The two from Bird Song Farm had an incredible root system and have bloomed beautifully this past month. If you are not in a big hurry, I would wait until they are back in stock at Brushwood or Birdsongfarm. I have no experience with gardenerdirect. Debra

Silage is chopped (something green). This is plain shelled corn. It is pricey, yes. Unfortunately, it's just our bin, not our corn. It took several hours to empty this bin because it's an old bin and the auger in the bin is small. The big trailer was too high to go under where the smaller trailer is postitioned. They had to auger the corn out into a small trailer, then empty it into the taller auger picking it up to the semi.

cooperbailey, Thanks, those are encouraging words. I will probably get some sort of shelving unit on each side of the fireplace later on. I have the black bench beside the fireplace for now and the pvr machine is on the floor next to it. I was thinking of adding a nice vase on the sofa table, some pictures and maybe a candle. I would also love a small fountain so I will have to decide. Joanne Joanne
