Hi Jessica. Beautiful home! I'm not much help with paint colors, but I would suggest that if you post this in the Home Decorating forum (particularly with all those great pics). You'll get some amazing advice.

I think the black and white art looks much better. I suggest a black frame. I think the mirrors you selected are better than the horizontal one you have right now but art would look better over the sofa.

No the valances, but its really too hard to give advice without pictures. What do you plan on doing in the room? Reading? Entertaining? Parties? That will determine what furniture you need and how to lay it out.
