We are still waiting for the sink we ordered, unfortunately (one that we found thanks to the people on this forum) :-( I totally understand that the splurge comment. If we were doing everything at once we wouldn't be able to do this, but this project has been in the works for many years! I told my husband that it has to completed this year, or else, lol. You will love your beautiful piece of Fusion no matter what you decide. Bye the way, we have been living with a mix of real stone and Formica for several years, and no one has ever noticed or commented on it.

Hi Joseph....I was hoping you'd respond! :). I'm an avid fan of yours (blush). We prefer an undermount sink because it's easier to wipe counters off onto the sink and as well because the emphasis will be on the countertop (Cristallo quartzite with gold and copper veining). The only reason we are considering a top mount (which we have now) is because it's easier to replace the sink (hubby might be able to do himself), should it need to be replaced in the future. I'm a bit of an OCD when it comes to the house/kitchen looking pristine all the time (and I both cook and bake A LOT). We are having a difficult time deciding on what sink (Brand, etc.) and color to get. White is out of the question as it's too intrusive next to our stone. Hubby wants a copper (my original idea), but two factors for us to consider is: We have hard water, and heard that may spot the sink, and also PRICE. Paying 2-3K for a sink is out of the question (financially) for us. We are stomped! Our kitchen cabinets are honey maple, our island (in works right now) will be a creamy white color, and then we have the Cristallo quartzite.

Then there is this article - that had me leaning toward quartzite ... http://usenaturalstone.org/definitive-guide-quartzite/ The Houzz article above has me leaning towards Quartz. : ) I am of the opinion that that are good features in both. Quartzite can take heat and you cannot set a hot pot on Quartz. Quartz does not stain as bad as Quartzite since Quartzite is a natural stone. Quartzite has to be sealed. I don't think Quartz does. I am thinking it is a toss up The one thing I am worried about is the part about the citrus and etching Quartz I have read a lot about. I use lemons a lot and we all cook around our island so I don't have full control of watching it all the time. . I would love to hear opinions from folks who have either. Have you had any issues with either choice?

What is your range? If it requires a backguard, you may find yourself paying extra for a feature that isn’t seen. Or dealing with unsightly brown scorching of the sealer of either the tile or the stone, or the slab itself, if its resined, and you install with no backguard, against manufacturer’s specifications. Unfortunately, installations against specifications are shown all the time. Doesn’t make them correct or safe.
