I'm going to cancel that order. I still love the rug, but now don't have anywhere to use it. I do need to figure out what to do about the old floor furnace grate that's visible in the first photo showing the new rug that I posted. I've had an old throw rug covering it which looks awful with the new rug, so I guess I'll just look for a throw rug that blends better. The floor furnaces are gone (we had central heat installed after we moved in), but unfortunately the hole in the floor is still there. I can't even imagine having it patched with wood floor, as I think that would come out looking strange -- just don't know what to do! Darn old house with its antiquated leftover fixtures!

I’m not a designer but I think your instincts are right. If everything else is super light I agree the sofa will look too dark and heavy. I think a light, warm neutral paint would be great, and accents of blue would make that gold sofa sing. I think your existing neutral walls look okay, actually. What if you just tried painting the red accent wall a nice mid tone blue?

Not every wall needs to be decorated. You could easily put a large tall plant in the corner next to the window. Home Depot usually has good ones for not too much. Any of these would work well. Every room needs a plant. They're great space fillers without looking contrived. They really cozy up a room.

Hello friends. I am afraid I need your help once again! We have finally settled on a new sofa, accent chairs and the place we are getting all of this from has agreed to also throw in a rug for us if I happen to like one from their suppliers. I fell in love with a rug they have as well as accent pillows I think will match well. We have also decided on the color of the accent chairs and the model of the sofa. My issue : I CANNOT decide on a sofa color!!! Everyone is telling me to do light grey but I am afraid it won't go with the rug I like. I am swayed towards a white sofa (it is more off white, I will post a picture of the swatch bellow) in order to flow with my chairs and everything else. I had spoken to the designer who did our plan and she said I can go with a white sofa no problem. Everyone is saying do light grey. I know I can pick another rug but I am SO In love with the one I have chosen and I think it will make the space... Can anyone advise me on what to do? I do like a light grey sofa but I also really like the colors in the rug...We have to order this week in order to make it in time for Christmas and I am very undecided. You have all been so helpful and if you aren't utterly sick of me, I would appreciate the advice!
