I think the economy is to blame in many ways. If you think about just the furniture or housewares manufacurers in the U.S. that have shuttered in the past five years that’s where places like HomeGoods siphoned. The American made isn’t as plentiful so we now rely on overseas items. i still shop there but it’s not the same.

I was in a store in Rogers Ark & ive never been in a more clustered store. the aisles were narrow & could barely walk without trying to avoid merchandise blocking the paths. i was aghast
She’s on a show on Apple TV Palm Royale. Started 3/20 has a great cast. Kristin Wiig Ricky Martin Allison Janney Julia Duffy…..many others
I liked her show but hated the theme song, and so I had to turn it off when that started.
A good friend of mine had his photo taken with her at an AIDS benefit in the 1990s.
My favorite part of her show was As The Stomach Turns, with Harvey Korman as Mother Marcus, Canoga Falls' resident Yenta.
She was on Kelly & Mark this morning. Soon to be 91.
Lots of unnecessary "architectural" elements in this space. I'm bothered more by the two "doorways" they created on either side of the TV niche. I would be doing some research to see if I could remove some of those partial walls.
Is this a condo or apartment? Looks like they had to use soffits to run hvac?
I don't think it's a matter of whether one likes open shelves, marble shelves, brass brackets, if it's a trend that's had its day or whatever. It doesn't matter if it was trendier 5 years ago and its past it's peak, the people who did it 5 years ago aren't remodeling their kitchens already, so this detail will be around for a long time. There is a thread about someone hating the ubiquitous 2024 white kitchen, and I went and searched and I found two threads about people being tired of white kitchens in 2012.
The issue is what to do with the open shelves in this particular scenario, if the OP wants open shelves.
Maybe you should skip the bookshelves entirely and just put the letters KINDLE on the wall! :)
Is it just me or does anyone else have Stonehenge on the brain?
Yes, in a formal garden like This and for the movie Heaven can wait with Warren Beatty, and the series Dynasty. Fabulous location.

I grew a row of arbs like those once. I wanted then to grow together to make a screen. When they do finally blend together, there are some overlapping side branches that die from lack of sunlight hitting them. It looks like they may have cut them back so the sides could get sunlight. It would need to be repeated every few years. My row of arbs was just getting to that point where they would screen completely, when they all mysteriously died. Some of their side branches were already dying at that point. The arbs pictured will fill in within 2 years, I'd say.
I hope you keep the broken pediments. If you want to change something it should be the chandelier. it really doesn’t belong in that room.
Thanks Cee bee. I will try to work on this tomorrow. Much will depend on table you select. See ya tomorrow if I can.
Thanks Flo!! For now, the rectangular table pictured above in the room will be the one. It does has a beautiful grain -a tiger mahogany? Oval would’ve been my preference if I was starting from scratch.
