I would not use a mirror in your lovely room! A colorful piece of art , some varied accessories, and dissimilar items will add interest to your fireplce wall.

Noticeable difference between cotton and microfiber..hard to choose but cotton is my usually my choice…as it breathes more than the microfiber

Printest, helping people is such a high for me. Seeing someone turn a corner in their life is so intoxicating. Years ago after all my family died I started doing random acts of kindness for strangers. Within a short time any depression I had disappeared. I've been doing it ever since to honor my family. So many ways to help others.

Pretty much EVERYTHING in your room is hard and/or shiny. If you are buying something new, I suggest you choose something that adds some texture and warmth to the space. Those stools definitely don’t.

Not sure of the age range of your visitors, but I don't think those little stools would be comfortable for very long.

We are in the German speaking part of Italy now, which is noticeably different, but quite beautiful. We return home on Wednesday. It has been a wonderful trip, but I’m getting tired of all the great food and wine, truly!

Flo-I definitely am getting another bid. But there is no way DH can help with the demo or anything.

Liasch- you are making me think about the bathroom. Nothing is wrong except the shower is really stained inside and DH can't get it out. It's fiberglass- the new ones are acrylic and last a lifetime. Do you think it can be sprayed like my tub was? That would be exciting if that was possible. We can still make the bathroom pretty with painted vanity and new paint job and new sconces and mirror?

Nora- they didn't give ME a senior discount and I was looking particularly old today and my roots were showing!!

I am now considering tile under the cabinets. My installer recommended these 2 patterns to go with my paper. Thoughts? Ignore the tile color, just consider the pattern.

I like second one too. Love wallpaper and it needs “quiet” companion.

There is zero green in my home. that would stick out like a sore thumb. the cabinets are very MCM. previous owners had a lot of it going on in the house, and little by little for thr oast 10 years, we have transitioned things.. i have always disliked it, and am happy to be rid of the heavy and dark features .

i have chantilly lace kitchen cabinets , fireplace and all trims in the house.

the tiles are not as beige looking as photos.

they are a taupey/ grayish

actually… i have the same tile in the bathroom off the family room and the walls/ trim in the bathroom are chantilly lace. to me, it doesnt look bad or too beige / warm .

Diana, I agree! The dining room is where you come together to experience joy, laughter, and fun! I want my dining room to make a statement to that!. Those curtains are HAPPY! I also love that they match my china so well!

I also have a bunch of chinoiserie- (mostly blue/white), but with this pattern, I can see myself branching out to collecting new colors!

What you didn't see, is there is a built in hutch right at the entrance to the dining room with open shelving. It will be fun doing something with that too!

Thank you SO MUCH for your support and encouragement! You're incredible!

Your landscaping is already so nice dsimber, but the additions you're planning will be great!

Needed a distraction today & been thinking about your thoughts of painting the shiplap, also painted the walls with Bleeker Beige (a little odd without natural shadows though).

Beadsnsew. That looks fantastic! I like the charcoal drapery panels with the painted fireplace shiplap. It elevates the ceiling in a lovely way.

4 of the blue and white ones are being used to package some of the items for the silent auction in May.
Do you think baskets are a good item for farmers market sale? I can do a few blankets, but the yarn is a lot of mish a mash.

Both ropes look nice..I do prefer the white one because the painting itself has more white

I'm having a hard time understanding the negative comments. I really love this house. It's such a clean, simple, yet very nice design to my eyes. If I were house shopping, assuming I like the inside as much, this would definitely be one I'd consider buying. I'm so tired of a certain ubiquitous look in homes that some here are trying to turn this into with their suggestions.

Actually, I hope Michelle is sitting on her gorgeous porch enjoying a beverage and ignoring the mean-spirited comments about her lovely home. Offering helpful advice is great. Snarky insults should have no place here.

I appreciate all of the comments and suggestions. And truly appreciate those who answered what I was asking for. It is indeed a new build, and I have a lot of great ideas on how to personalize it and make it feel like home.

So glad you had a great trip! Sorry for the damaged mirror. I like the concept of a grouping of mirrors. Perhaps ones that are a little more refined. These seem too casual for your room though. I can look around. Bbl

Growing vegetables is tough unless you are feeding an army!!…after a few years …it is a huge physical burden the keep the soil healthy and productive…you have to learn canning to use all the veggies…then a list of people that want all the stuff you can’t eat yourselves…whew…thank heavens for Trader Joe’s..
