I like the stainglass - adds character. I'd be tempted to move the china cabinet to the wall where the mirror is and the side board to where the china cabinet is now. (only if the corner cabinet is moved). Then put a large piece of art above the sideboard. Then turn your table. It'll open up the window end of the room and give an airy feel. Or move the sideboard to the mirror wall. I just find the table looks a bit squished between the two large pieces of furniture - might not be in real life
Another vote for #3 and big numbers. Take your time to look for a font (style) you like. The black looks best. Make sure it’s easy to read from the curb.
People forget that the police, or an ambulance, need to know where you are if you call for help. Aesthetics are important, but visibility is vital.
I think with modern type architecture, crown molding and chair rail molding, etc., are not so much of a thing.
Also, art displayed on a dark wall can showcase the art just fine. It can also be quite dramatic.
And I think Paul’s idea for the mural leading to the outside space is to blend with, and/or to frame, the living wall. I think that is one of the primary considerations.
And I agree that the mismatch between the dark heavy kitchen and lighter airier rest is problematic, but I would also prefer you lighten up the kitchen if possible, rather than add heaviness to the rest.
Not as bold a color on the cabinets; but we chose to maintain the fun on the ceiling with our redo.
Personally? I'd really limit the entire re do UNLESS you want new top, under mount sink, new faucet, and an alcove tub, with a tile. Ideally you want white, not bone, yes?
I'd lose the upper cabinetry if at all possible.
So.........it's really a question of how far and how much.
The floor tile? Isn't really the issue at all. jmho. : )
It's all the other. Which means the wisest might be to pick a paint and a shower curtain and wait/save for more.
Maybe you could take down the wall cabinets and mirror and put in a nice medicine cabinet?
Now seeing the other pictures, the only thing that seems " dated" ( I dislike that word ) is the top, sink and faucet. The rest looks clean, in good condition and goes well together.
Try getting a bolder shower curtain and floor matt and find a new paint color you like. The color of your cabinets is actually quite nice.
Try all of that before going onto something bigger.
Good luck! Make sure to post follow up pictures of the changes you make
Honestly I’m on Houzz a lot which is a great resource however it does make you feel what you have old and dated. Originally I was just thinking of painting vanity but I thought the floor was limiting me.
Houzz is a store. These pics and discussion exist to make ad revenue and convince you to buy more things. Don't be swayed by all the brand new glitz.
There is a Buddhist saying: "First thought, good thought." Paint your vanity, get new hardware, get a new faucet.
Go through all of your storage cabinets in this bathroom. Throw out what you can. Are some things better placed in a hallway closet? If the wall cabinet is still needed, then keep it. Function over form.
