We leave our shoes at a shoe rack at the door and wear slippers inside. It has more to do with comfort than clean. I rarely have anyone visit except for family and they all usually take their shoes off to be more comfortable. However, I live in a dusty place with dark floors and when you wear shoes in, you can immediately see the footprints and I have to mop. So, I guess it's comfort and dusty footprints that are my reasons for no outside shoes in the house. I do not insist that anyone remove their shoes though, I will just mop when they leave. I like the way the dark floors look when they are freshly cleaned but wish I had not chosen them. It's going to be a big pain to replace them but I think that's what I'm going to eventually do.

What about replacing the center window between the doors with a stained glass window? You can experiment with the peel & stick varieties available on Amazon, before investing in the real thing.

The credenza from tge dinjng room is way too long for the space we currently have tge stereo. it woukd work behind the couch, but adds more furniture to our living room that has quite a few large pieces

I’d try to just have the table & chairs, unless I’m misunderstanding the size of the room. They’re quite nice & would be the “stars “ & have breathing room— the dining area would be more relaxed & inviting .

Noodle on where the credenza might work. I’m not quick to give up good wood furniture, especially storage pieces. But they don’t always have to be in the “ correct” room. Is there some other furniture item that’s not as nice or useful that you’d be willing to remove or relocate to make room?
