Fortunate to be in the direct path this year, 4 minutes and 21 seconds. of totality. We drove 360 miles in 2017 to watch one half that long.
Well, WOW, that was one of the more cool things I have experienced recently. Up until the time it was supposed to start, it was mostly an overcast day. Then, suddenly right on cue as it began, the clouds cleared. The sunlight was almost surreal - the intensity was amazing - and then it was enthralling to watch over the next hour as the totality increased. When the total eclipse happened, it was so amazing to see darkness descend in the middle of the day - all the outside solar lights came on as we sat in the darkness. Plus hearing the cheering and bustle from nearby places where people were congregating. I had a perfect view from my backyard deck, and was wonderful to sit in my garden to experience the whole thing.
Totality is profound, a moment to appreciate our small place in the universe. We had a partial eclipse here, lots of crescents through pinholes.
you got me with the “pizza“ sofa!!!..funny!!!.
never knew food was always on my mind 😂..
I’m in the eclipse path!..Indianapolis has viewing parties everywhere..including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway..we have glasses but aren’t going anywhere..I’m fine with being in my garden..
my garden is more green everyday..💕
debra..10 of my relatives are headed to the racetrack..nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews..all young and energetic..I’m too lazy to go 😂..
not cutting back in the fall isn’t harmful in my opinion..I leave lots of things as they are going into winter..
Fire Islands surrounded by debris..
Partial eclipse here, so we got lots of crescents through pinholes. The light was weird and everything felt a bit cool for about 30 minutes.
ladypat and Laurie..congratulations to both of you..🙂..
the bridge collapse was shocking..so sad..
my potted plants are in the garage..again..
my outside plants are ok for now 🤞..
Ladypat, I hope your granddaughter is home and doing well by now.
Laurie, congratulations on your first grandchild. How wonderful for you! What will he call you? Have you decided on that yet? I know it’s a little soon before he talks, but these are the things I think of. 😊
Bkay, new hostas are always fun to get. It’s too early for our nurseries or my mail order hostas to get to me yet.
Ann, you inspired me to try Elephant Ears again. I just got them and think I’ll pot them up to get a head start. But they’re staying inside for a while.
And how lucky for those of you who had exposure to gardens as kids. I watched gardening shows on PBS, Victory Garden comes to mind. Then I tried things on my own with the help of a few booklets from Burpees. Finding GW and the gardeners here has helped make sense of so many things. I’ve always loved seeing how plants grow.
First flowering hellebore in my gardens.
Thank you Lisa! I will be gramma. Then nana & papa for his other grandparents plus one for uncle and of course for themselves. This was decided ahead of time and the kids got us T shirts printed. Fabulous Hellebore!
Weird. The print is actually white and the blue brighter than it appears. It was such a cute idea and on Sunday we will get a pic with all of us in our shirts with the baby.
I can play this game. Please ignore the stakes. I am in the process of spreading these out.
Left to right, Purple Verticulated Elf, Blueberry Muffin, Evening Blush, Sapphire Pillows
Blue and wavy. Left to right, Blue Arrow, Frisian Waving Steel, and Astral Bliss in the back.
I use the maintenance level - 1/2 tsp per gallon of water. Weekly, weakly :-))
