I have the Verturo Plus machine and love it. I drink a couple of cups of coffee in the morning only and drink mine black. So much better than my Cuisinart drip and Peet's ground coffee situation. I am not a coffee connoisseur but there is something extremely satisfying about my Nespresso Bianco Forte coffee in the morning. Total convert. I recycle my pods by shipping them back to Nespresso but am aware that probably just makes me feel a little better about my environmental impact. I am also aware this is having a financial impact on my wallet but, for now, I don't care because I so love it.

We have the Nespresso Mini. It uses the original pods. Bought it as a bundle. The frother lasted about a year. I replaced it with a frother I found on Amazon.

I drink 2 lattes every morning. My husband drinks his black. He likes the crema.

https://www.nespresso.com/us/en/order/machines/original/nespresso-essenza-mini-d30-ruby-red-bundle?

We recycle the pods after emptying out the grounds that get added to our compost bin.

I have been very happy with my Vertuo Plus. Family and friends who visit like it, too! Makes great coffee!

Maire Cate I have looked at that GH skirt many times online… the only thing stopping me is the fact that if this retirement gig doesn’t suit me at any point I could open a black skirt store 🙄

Looking at all the colors together though, i think I like the navy one best— it’s a good shade of navy and would round out my navy / yellow / white group for a short trip….

First, you are adorable and can likely wear just about anything and look good! My thoughts really echo what has already been said:

Outfit 1 - great pants and they seem like they can go dressy casual to dressy with the change of a top and shoes. I would like to see it with other options if you are still willing to play dress up :).

Outfit 2 - agree you can probably go down a size in the pants or see what other options are already in your closet. The top and jacket look great and are very versatile.

Outfit 3 - not my favorite but mainly because I'm projecting my "I'm too short for that" narrative onto it. It is a cool boho look and you can pull it off. I wonder if a little snugger tee would balance the flowy nature of the skirt a bit better?

Looking forward to more pics!

*As an aside, I had a pair of comfy olive green cargo like pants from the xcvi brand that SueB shared that I wore non-stop when I was writing my dissertation in 2003 (before the big athleisure explosion). Even dubbed them my "dissertation pants" and they were a vital part of my writing process. My only regret is that I did not thank them for their service in my acknowldegements section, ha ha!

Olychick I too am conflcted about such a final step but also recognize it as individual’s own choice to end their life.

Thought I would post a little update. My friend passed on around 9 am Monday. Later that afternoon and evening, her kids had a gathering for friends (no family but themselves in the area), which was really nice. I was able to stay a little after others left and they talked about how it all went for their mom. Apparently, there is a group of volunteers who help with the process for Death with Dignity. They attended the mom, helped with the preparation of the solution she was to drink, gave some tips to the family about what to bring to make it more palatable. They talked to her about her options to change her mind with no judgements from anyone. She was resolute and passed quickly and without any appearance of distress, which was so nice for her family.

It was wonderful to be able to talk with her kids and let them process the day. It was a wonderful gathering with lots of tears and laughter and good stories to share. She had said goodbye to most of us at the gathering, so I think we all were at peace.

Thank you again for letting me process this here. Lots of good thoughts and words, which really helped me.

Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us. Years ago, when I had to put my mom in a nursing home, and I came fact-to-face with people who were essentially gone in all meaningful ways, but being kept alive, I really began to think about my own last days. Your friend's mother did such a brave thing, and her children showed her the greatest love by honoring her wishes.

Ha, Ruby, it is literally the same Lee sofa we have, except in different upholstery. (The one we have is about 10 years old.) It’s not here yet but this is the model. Fabric is actually similar to this pic, kind of a taupey greenish hard-to-describe color.

I didn’t leave a gift basket type of thing, but I did leave toilet paper in all of the bathrooms, a roll of paper towels in the kitchen, a binder with all of the appliance booklets, the original floor plans and a list of web sites for local utilities, including the trash pick-up day. My buyers weren’t moving in right away either, so I didn’t want to leave any food or drink that might go bad. Oh, and I left a box with extra fittings for various things around the house and extra light bulbs.

So these WERE the top 3 contenders:

Bottom Left, Radley London bag, an inch too large both height and width but still a contender of nothing else pops up

Bottom Right, Kate Spade, already sold :( (It was perfect now that I can’t have it!)

Second Row far right, Nine West, have inquired about dimensions and no answer for 24 hrs so I probably won’t get one.

Cool. That is a subtle snake! I have this mirror and everyone thinks it is snakes.

the “dolphins” embellishing these mirrors are not your typical Flipperesque variety. The first English explorers named the large fish they observed patrolling the waters off the eastern coast of North America “dolphins”, thus causing centuries of confusion with the better-known marine mammal.

I sent them pics showing how much yardage they sent. They sent what was clearly an autogenerated autoreply offering me 15% off. Umm, I am missing half my yardage.

I have a few lighter colors in MZ Wallace and my sister has one of the older pale pinks in the exact style above-- she travels with it a fair amount and it is still looking great. It IS washable which helps, i think.

Mtn.. I agree, I need that sweater!

And Rubyclaire, I love how you think-- that was exactly my thought, I need the magnet for fall and the mushroom for spring summer! I'd have to travel a bit more to justify that but I think that is my plan.

I was concerned that the magnet was too close to but not the black in the trim. I really don't want a black bag. Glad many of you think the magnet is fine too.

PS.. I also think I need a second crossbody sling in the mushroom color. It wasn't available when I got mine. :(

Yes, I know what you said in your OP … I agree. Different materials would’ve been better in my mind, too. :)

But if I were able to move plumbing and such, I would have tried to keep the windows more open somehow … maybe a tub under the windows and vanity somewhere else. I’m never one who needs two sinks, which every house of mine has had, so could easily plan for one sink and mirror. Currently, the sink on my side is rarely used, we both use his side. I’d prefer more counter space there instead.

I was looking at the Everywhere bag but I think I want an mz wallace bag... I like the clay pink with the magnet, black and mushroom. I just need to pick a color and see what I find. For the coming trip, I have a tote or a backpack I can use.

I kind of agree with you about Quince copying everything. When I first started looking at the site about a year ago, I was looking for linen clothing. They primarily had clothing then. Now they have clothing, home goods, suitcases, leather goods, and so on. I’m expecting furniture to be on the site soon!

In case any of you ever get an itch to disassemble a hat, this was fast and easy. I didn't use standard hot glue. My hot glue is for heavy duty projects, not arts and crafts. It all appears to be pretty sturdy.

The last photo is a closeup of the seam and glue.

Your balcony is going to be so cozy .... a great place for a light meal or cocktails!

I really like the turquoise Sophie chair Sue shared if it is in the same tonal range of the cushions. I also like the metal chairs if you can find some that are comfy enough -- 3rd choice would be the teak.

My 2nd choice for tablecloth is the stripes-- which is very surprising because I typically go for a floral. I think the vibe of the florals arent playing well with the pattern on the seat cushions.

You didn't offer this as an option so maybe you have already excluded it-- but what about a Schumacher Lemon Garden tablecloth? NM has a 90" round ... didnt look on etsy but I imagine you could find one there too.

ETA: oh. It isn't coated. My mistake.

Yeah, I love it when there’s a floorplan. The realtor’s photographer has created one but it’s not quite right. Presumably it can be corrected and if so I’ll have it included. It’s not all that common around here. It’s the kind of place where a floorplan would be helpful. I have one picture of the lake/dock from a distance but trust me when I say it’s better not to have photos of a non-beachy waterfront.
