It is very dark in here. I agree with groveraxle NO more brown. If you have to stay with the sofas for now, then I would suggest some light colored pillows to brighten them up.
I am sure groveraxle can help you with this, a long floating shelf for the TV consule would work great and even give you some room for a desk nook on one side where the bookshelf is now. Get rid of the desk.
A nice round coffee table would be nice, but first I would put the expense on the window covering. A nice light gray with white accents or just a white curtain would do the trick.
Are you renting, if not, can you paint the walls? Lighting is an issue as well. The easy & most affordable right now is to replace the bulb with a "daylight" bulb, "soft white" always looks yellowy. Good luck.
Your home definitely needs a makeover. It needs light and fresh furniture. If you'd like to rearrange and install new furniture for your home try checking out our idea boards. In there, we have ideas on furniture and style.
Hi, Brenda. I don't know how I missed your February update, but if you're still listening and looking, I think you can achieve a similar look with a few tweaks. Notice your inspiration photo is basically all neutrals, a mix of warm and cool grays and silver. You're already halfway there with your warm neutral sofa and silver lamps.
Look for opaque curtains in a cool gray and a couple of pillows to match, perhaps switch out the frames on your gallery wall to silver ones.
The cool grays can be a little tricky; you'll want to tend toward blue, maybe even throw a tiny bit of blue in the mix.
