Hello everyone, my name is Dallas. I live in North Florida and have been searching diligently to find an Evelyn rose in honor of my one year old daughter Evelyn Jane who passed away June last year. She was born with congenital heart disease but her time spent on this earth was full of life, love, and precious memories. I thank God for giving me the priviledge to know her and love her for the time I had with her. I would be indebted to anyone willing to help me find, purchase, or receive an Evelyn Rose…. thank you deeply.
But don't assume because it shows up in your internet search it is a trustworthy site
Diablesse de mers (my favorite--it smells lovely and blooms into autumn!)
I hope nikthe greek is still out there somewhere. I miss him.
@Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR Sheila, I've tried both email addresses I have for Nik, but unlike the first time he disappeared due to health reasons, I've not received any answer. I miss him terribly, too.
I finally got my Double Easy Orange in April. It's a little bloom machine, and is on its third flush right through our horrible heat. It's currently 102F at seven o'clock. Another orange rose I love is the Kordes rose, Orangerie. It's available in Europe and Australia. The US patent was approved several years ago, but it hasn't showed up the the US. Do these companies think we dislike orange roses? They must think we US rose growers don't have the couths to appreciate the finer points of orange. Diane
I have Lady Emma, Lady and Shallott, and Summer Song. I think Summer Song might be closer in color to Emilien Guillot or, ROSE DE MONTMÉRAC, but am not sure if/where they are sold in US and they are not DA roses. Lady of Shallot, at least in my garden, is a slightly, richer orange than Lady Emma, but both lighter than Summer Song. Lady Emma is being phased out worldwide, I think.
Check the Grace thread. And I've not received my exclusive Ashley rose, but I haven't waited as long as you, though too long for me. Diane
It’s been nothing but excuse after excuse. I don’t think I will ever see those roses. At this point I just want my money back.
I have one flourishing in essentially full shade with a ton of buds. It is under open sky but the sun beams never really directly hit it due to the position of the building next-door. I didn't have space for it in the fall so just stuck it in a pot in a holding pattern until spring, and am really sort of amazed it seems so happy in that spot (so it's staying there). Very few roses would seem to bloom like that with so little direct sun? I feel that both my own root and grafted ones are taking off with little effort on my part. (In Europe, there is different rootstock than in the US). For the moment, they are short and bushy, so good for the front of a border (or a pot).
I had one once, but it died over its first winter. I am in zone 7, but we have occasional late frosts.
Oh, Monarda! I am so sorry. Roses and weather…. For data collection: My 2 mature, own root Tradescants survived our MN level winter freeze this year! (Snow, freezing rain, ice, zero or near zero nightly wind chills for days.) They are budding up to bloom. Go figure. 🤷🏻♀️ The big freeze killed a variety of other plants in this area, even ones that had lived comfortably for ages . My young, own root, nursery potted Diablo Hawk is fine, too. I tucked it onto my porch and bubble wrapped it. I stuffed outdoor pillows and piles of bubble wrap all around my baby, own root Annie Laurie McDowell. I lost a bit of it but not all. Yay! Carol
