Looks like a modern art collectors home. I'm terrible with color but tried to push it even further.

A fairly large piece of pictorial art, ie not a mirror or window frame shape, but an actual painting, between the TV and the corner would bring character and personality into the room. Try a size deeper than the TV, not quite as wide, for balance.

Would mock it up but my sortware is squiff. Sorry.

It looks as though the curtains are skimpy. Can you add another panel to bring the edge right to the finial?

Ah! Your children use that corner for play? That’s information we need.

So obviously you don’t want to fill it with an adult chair + table + lamp, nor a large houseplant either. Hmmmm .... thinking on it with this new information at hand. Maybe some type of child-size furniture or bookcase to store toys or books? A swag light hanging down? A few pot lights added here and there across the whole room?

You need more lighting. add 2 lamps to your side tables by the sofa and get at least two floor lamps. (do not get the torchiere kind that points light up at the ceiling.) i would also consider painting the room a bright white color. the walls contribute to the darkness.

Dear Bernie, not entirely sure what you are saying, but you seem to think that it's the numbers that count. It's not. It's the percentages. And the balance between the percentages and our ability to produce adequate infrastructure to cope with our new inhabitants -- infrastructure in all its forms. All "New World" countries have benefited immensely from immigration, but in our very volatile world it is desperately hard to control the phenomenon and its results. And your comment may disappear because I think it goes too close to areas for which Houzz is not an appropriate forum.

And, of course, we suffered immensely from immigration, too. Ask the original inhabitants.

Loaded shotguns, and an experienced hunter / husband who is proficient in their use!! All our grandchildren know how to safely handle shotguns too, so when they visit, its not an issue; several are in the military now. I am a retired US Air Force Captain, so I have had training in weapon use. Barking dogs are good!!

Paisano's Roost Farm (American Blackbelly Sheep) in Southern New Mexico: A fully fenced property, 2 guard donkeys, chickens, 4 mature rams, 3 dogs. You don't get on the farm without something going off and alerting us. Even the local deputies took one look at my rams and agreed they wouldn't want to meet

them in a dark alley.

I have not been playing, but I believe this is a very precious thread, and it got disappeared (like Dunbar*), and it's back. So goodie. Have fun.

*Dunbar. Read Catch 22. Why have you not read Catch 22? If you haven't.

If they don't read any comments, then why bother to comment? I would figure I'm just repeating what someone else already said--and they probably said it better as well. (That's what I always tell my mom when she says I should write a book...who wants to read a book that doesn't have anything new in it?)

I'd start by simply removing the small pictures on the left from the wall and moving the mirror to centre with the table. Leave the fishes where they are, and see how that looks.

My first thought was to center the mirror on the table... I even thought that if you slide your table to the right; before you went ahead with it, you could see how well it will work. But if you do that; your light will come down over the mirror, blocking it's view. I would recommend pulling the mirror to the right, and then introducing the fish on the left. Consider leaving one to two fish off, because it does look a titch crowded. I like that you chose an odd number of them, it does seem more natural that way. I would not change the paint color, you are looking for a softer feel; in that case, less may be more.

MNANH: Margo needs a new hat. Obviously.

Oh sigh, can't play the video (to any purpose) because my speakers aren't working and haven't been for months. I'm not good at maintenance.

Gosh, you lot are tame. I just checked the derby hats site. Here is a selection of hats from one of our big races, the Durban July, 2013. Other people do attend who are a touch more sane or less eager to catch the eye of the photographer. I fancy the equine version. How do you think our Margo would look in one of those?

Indeed. But it isn't easy being green. Margo? Yes? No?

Perhaps not.

Good night folks. Bed and book beckon.

Curt, I tip over. Then I tip over in the other direction. Then I roll around the floor a bit. Then I get up and make a rude sign to whoever made me tip over. It's the getting up that defines the not falling down. You are here fighting the good fight. You are a Weeble.

Hi Army, oh valiant driveway person. You too are a Weeble of mighty wobble-up ability.

This Weeble is about to enjoy a temporary overnight tip-over. To bed with Raymond Chandler. So to speak. Readers, go back and re-explore him. One of America's gems. Goodnight all from here, when you finally get there. Which in some cases is after I wake up in the morning. Hard to wrap my head around that.

Of course, this link is not responding but it's from 2Cellos. They are two young men from Croatia and have performed with Elton John. I think Ali did talk about them at one point. The only Silent Night I find from The Piano Guys features Placido Domingo and it is beautiful but not just instrumental obviously. :)

I was able to hear this....absolutely gorgeous...

Just last week borrowed a cello made by a friend, and finally as Christmas winds down, I was able to sit down last night and try to figure it out. Got to where I could play three hymns in two octaves and one could even recognize them! :/ (I'm laughing at myself.)
