Erin, The island can be viewed almost as a piece of furniture and is ok to have different pulls, I think. Can you maybe connect the 2 in lighting? Seems like there are quite a few options out there now with black and gold. I wouldn’t worry about it being too much with the stainless, especially since the black isn’t metallic. It is a classic neutral that will look sharp on the hickory, but not demand attention the same way or fight with the metals. What will you use for faucets?
