Patricia,

I've said my Chy-Chy (Chyla) was my last cat, but I know my child will take any cat I had, should I die. Okay then. She will not be my last. May not be my last. At least my mind is open❣️

The above story is an old, old urban myth that has been doing the rounds for years. My brother told me it at least 10 years ago. There are many variations with different types of shops, even named stores, and sometimes it's a changing room or toilet rather than a grocery cart. Its always something that happened to someone else and was told by a third party. And anyway, a moment's thought reveals a massive flaw. Just because the handbag owner had gone out how would a thief be sure the house was empty?

Obviously watch your possessions carefully and be alert for scams, but don't fall for these stories.

Well that just can't be true! Glenda has always been here at the KT with her great attitude toward life and her wonderful recipes. As time goes on, I'm sure we'll still be seeing someone post that they're making one of her dishes. We were lucky to have known her.

More than once, from more than one person, I have received hand-knit dishcloths. They are wonderful! I use them, think of the giver in love and gratitude. One person included two sewn together to be a hot pad, love it.

My young catsitter gave me a painting she did of our two cats, sitting looking at the moon, with their tailw entwined in a heart. She was 11, and the small canvas hangs happily in my kitchen by the cats’ dining area.

A highway overpass is now known as the worst place to take cover from a tornado. As scary as it sounds, a ditch is considered the best place to shelter when caught outside on the highway. Try not to push the snakes and other critters out of the way.

Photo number three reminds me of when Thomas first appeared at my house, sitting on the porch railing that is nearest the back door, peering in and loudly asking to come in, during snowy sub zero weather at dusk. He just came out of nowhere - a stray? dump-off? a new neighbors' cat?

Anyway, I didn't let him in that night but he's been here nearly 12 years now. Was a feisty tom cat, surgery finally fixed that, even tho I wasn't sure who he belonged to at the time. I love him.

I do know that getting shingles in no way keeps you from getting it again. I feel for you. My DH back before he was my DH got shingles. It was horrible and he was lucky I realized what it was so he could get treatment. I have no advice.

I know you are immune compromised which probably has more to do with your getting an outbreak than anything else. All I can say is I am really sorry. Hopefully you will be better soon?

I once went to a banana farm in California. The owner grew multiple varieties of bananas for speciality markets and gave tastes. One tasted like strawberries and one for all the world like icecream. The Icecream banana was huge but apparently not a keeper. Too bad. I knew there were lots of bananas and most more sweet and tasty than our usual supermarket banana but never so many lovely flavors.

Yeah, wool is doing fine. It dipped a bit in the early 2000's, but it's been stable with increases for over a decade. The bigger difference is how the wool is being used. After a drop in the 90's apparel wool has kept declining. Less demand, so less is being made. Interior wools have increased a lot and far overtaken apparel wool.

I started on Garden Web back just after you didnt pay anymore, 1999 I suppose, on something called that home site. It was about advice on things that went wrong in your house. I was following a link a friend sent about an exploding toilet. Moved on to Antique Roses and mostly posted there and the Rose forum for years but it got a bit snarky so I moved to Hot topics. If I was going to have snark I might as well go for broke. I used to read KT from time to time but it was a very close group. I had a similar experience to Lars but it was unintentional I think. I do know my views are not average. Still I never even got a warning from Spike. I feel sort of left out. I have ridden the tea cups for real though. I am hopeless with names. I admire those of you who can remember names. I do recognize some of them. I miss pidge in particular.

Not sure when I first joined Gardenweb - I miss it. I much preferred it to what is now the discussion forum of HOUZZ. So much arrogance and snark here now. Nothing like it used to be.

It looks brand new. Doesn't he like living in a hotel? <hiss>

When you said the owner had designed it himself I'd expected something 'original', not this stone wedding cake.

Even actors are real people.

This Jerry guy was not dating women, he was by multiple accounts living with one in a more or less committed relationship so not living a forlorn empty life.

Not only do they script these shows they reshoot scenes that didn't work. They even do that when people are buying houses. They are all selling a fantasy. It is TV and if it is fun for you good because no one is not on board who is in the show just like any soap opera. You can enjoy the vicarious situations. I have never had the same attitude about the home buyers and renovators since I learned many years ago that it is a total fraud. It injured my wonderment in people buying something that in no way met what they said they wanted. Learning they were told what to say they wanted sort of left me deflated. Oh well, there is still why that ugly house in a flood zone.

Do these people actually have sex or do they just pretend?

hmm I do wonder if maybe for the beginning episode the contestants have to bring their clothing, and then after the first one or two eliminations maybe there is a community closet :).

I can't recall if they are paid. We met with our friend i December, and I think the program was to start in late January. I forgot to watch but caught some on youtube to see her daughter.

When you buy your laundry detergent with a marked cap use a colored marker to make a clear and easily read line to measure your dose. Easy peasy. I account for a small amount of water to make it easier to dump the dose into my machine. No scent for me. I will use a laundry spray for stains. Cold water. I have well water at about 55 degrees.

Dadoes, no I use dishwashing liquid and hot water to hand wash or dishwasher liquid and hot water to machine wash. Dish washing liquid is formulated differently from laundry detergent. It does not work properly in cold water. Our on demand water heater supplies aproximately 120 degree water.

I was reading some of the negative reviews (lots of positive ones) and some people say they don't dissolve fully and leave white lint on dark clothes. They also have a scent which is a no-go for me. They don't have a Q&A on their website either. I would ask if anything is sourced in China.

They're not meant to dissolve. It's also a dryer sheet?

Good question, but who would you ask? Who would know if it's sourced in China in any way?

I am loving my new end table aka desk in our sitting room. (On the left under the windows.) Solid vintage oak. $75.

(The little stool under the front window was also a deal at $25 a couple of years ago.)

Well apparently some people don't do anything. The only way you wouldn't need to wash your pants.

Without intervention DH's jeans would get up and walk around by themselves. I try to make him understand that the dirt is grinding away at the fabric.

Detergent science is science but the use of detergents is culture. And that is all I am going to say about it.

Laundry detergent and dishwashing detergent are concocted differently. Dish washing liquid actually requires hot water to work properly. It is a chemistry/ energizing thing. If your laundry detergent says it is formulated to work in cold water it is. But deciding to believe it works as well as hot is one of those learned things. Do what makes you happy.

I've always heard (and there's a reason it's called hearsay), never use anything like steel wool, scouring pads, etc. on cast iron. So, what I use is... kosher salt. It's great to scrub off icky stuff.

How lovely.

I adore the local trailing blackberries. The flavor is the best and very comparable to a trailing southern Dewberry. They are lucky in the south as the berries are larger and easier to pick with the same intense flavor. I used to make a wonderful blackberry liqueur using tequila as the alcohol. Wonderful stuff. Unfortunately the introduced Himalayan blackberry and the Evergreen have taken over the native territory.

Olychick, I had seen the piece on Eric's Heros a year or so ago, and when this came up again this week I was afraid it meant we had lost her. What a lovely, gracious lady and generous in every sense.

Sadly, that did prove to be the case and her services this week. At 98, all who loved her will be saying their final goodbyes tomorrow. I wish I could have known her.
