I wonder how many of us own a black light. They are fun.)

I had skipped this thread when I saw ginger cookies. I did not see the Baltimore Bridge when I glanced so I assumed it was something about ginger cookies, which I dislike. I posted another thread about this, and floral responded she had made this thread already.
I immediately understood Floral's message and found nothing offensive. I had written it out plainly but the same sentiment. To me it's a clear example of perspective.
Tragic event, that no one could have imagined 2 minutes before it happened, and it has big consequences.
I'm sorry some readers failed to comprehend my post. But most people did. I added the explanatory subheading to clarify it for those who didn't understand the meaning.
I heard this news on the radio very early this morning, still the middle of the night in Boston, and was very shocked by it. I then went on line and saw the video. The "holy he ll"comment was the horrified human reaction heard from the person taking the video. I was surprised nobody on KT had mentioned it so decided to post about it. I mentioned perspective in order to contrast this genuine tragedy with some of the frothy topics we usually enjoy here. If anyone finds genuine shock at a disaster and a thought on reminding ourselves of what really matters in life 'a cheap shot', then I'm afraid that's not something I can do anything about.
I clearly understood floral's meaning as well.
Some folks seem to make a sport of finding offense where none was intended.
It would probably be less expensive for your cleaners to come and do a more thorough cleaning than it would be to pay your painters to clean first, at least in my experience, because my painter charges hourly rather than strictly by the job.
Mine clean, even if it's clean, spackle, sand, sand between coats, super tidy and so forth but I pay a premium for it.
Preparation is a key step when painting. I paint myself, am no expert but I spend the most time prepping the surfaces for paint. Having a clean surface is necessary. It will be worth it to have it done.
In all my years of using duvet covers, I never had one that had loops or buttons or any way to attach the duvet to the cover, so I would suggest that you don’t need them. Like you, I would often use a quilt or a light blanket as the insert during summer months. Sometimes, I would use no insert at all, just the cover. Before you go to a lot of effort, try using the quilt as an insert with no corner attachments and see what you think.
Floss first. Sometimes rinse after, sometimes not.
Load toothpaste onto the toothbrush dry. I learned several years ago that the mouth shouldn't be rinsed after brushing.
By some wild coincidence, I happen to be wearing this shirt today.
Imagine my surprise when I saw that post.
Great quote.

The original has surfaced showing the reason for the photoshopping:
Yikes! so sorry for you.
are you on a blood thinner?
Yes, aspirin can cause you to bleed under the skin. One of the meds against my cancer can cause blood clots. I was told to take a baby aspirin daily. I cut back to twice weekly when I developed bleeding under the skin and when any little bump created a lasting bruise.
DH became allergic to an after shave he'd used for decades. It was the preservative in the product, along with the age-related decline of his natural immune responses. Many OTC liquids and creams (like Eucerin) contain preservatives. Some products now tout that they are "preservative free" for this very reason.
I found a cute denim maxi skirt...for $20! (JCP) I can't buy a pattern, fabric, thread, a zipper and snap to make it for $20. And...ALL THAT work when it's got the faded front and looks amazing. I see why the average ....off-the-rack female doesn't sew any more.
I haven't gotten finished mourning the Christmas Tree Shop yet!
I also won’t shop at Hobby Lobby. JoAnns is the only other option nearby. Hope they make it.
I would pop off the 4 inch bs. Then do either a white subway tile or a green.
If you do green, you can use a green for the walls.
I miss Robo. Hope they are ok.
Annie, I’m nosy.
Was it a cute announcement card of some sort? Is there a party or celebration included?
I can understand suggesting that gifts not be sent til April. Maybe they are moving or won’t be close to home before then?
I also ’get’ mentioning the registry. Having a registry doesn’t mean they won’t appreciate other gifts, but it does help so they don’t receive numerous duplicates. Our niece recently received 3 baby swings.
The ‘buying a card’ instructions has me perplexed, maybe they are boycotting Hallmark? 😊
Hopefully the baby’s parents will appreciate the sweater you make.
When you send one of your pieces to a lucky recipient do you include a card telling them that it was handmade by you? I don’t know if many young people would necessarily know that a hand knitted piece is very special.
I made a baby outfit for one of my husband's nieces. She asked me if I could make all her baby clothes - the outfit was so nice and she was sure it would be a lot less expensive to just get me the material than to buy baby clothes at the stores.
Annie - while you are following all of the instructions please don't forget to include a stamped, self-addressed 'Thank You for the Baby Gift' card.
Well? Did I get it right?
For the record, I am about to take it down and sand/paint the pergola and house on that side. And... I didn't notice the dribble on the side of the swing. Drat.
If you do the chop and smash with the knife method of mincing the garlic (which I usually do as I dislike cleaning out what’s left behind in the squisher thing), adding the salt into the mix helps with this procedure.
I find that if you’re sauteeing onions and garlic, it’s better to start the onions off and add the garlic just as the onions are nearly done. Garlic burns very easily and once it’s burned, it’s inedible and will make the whole dish ghastly.
Here’s a classic from Uncle Roger- (a character created by comedian Nigel Ng, but pretty well spot on with his cooking critiques)
Uncle Roger reviews Kays’s Cooking Fried Rice
It’s hard to know whether Kay’s Cooking is for real or an elaborately crafted satire on cooking videos. If the latter, she’s a brilliant actress.
My rules for garlic:
1. Always use at least 2x or 3x what the recipe says. Indeed this applis to pretty much all spices in my book. (Especially if it is an American recipe, i'm afraid. They are usually under flavoured to my taste.)
2. Bash with a knife to break the skin and smash the clove. Chop further if necessary. Sometimes I slice. Depends on the texture required in the dish.
3. If used under a roast etc. Don't bother to peel.
4. Do not let it burn. As above, put the garlic in well after onions.
I bought garlic powder once in my life. Never again. It clumped into a lump after opening and had little flavour imo.
I like garlic. I grow my own garlic and never have to buy garlic.
I love garlic bread. Who doesn't?
The way for me to make garlic bread, the garlic has to be made into a paste so I can brush evenly on the bread. I don't like chunks of garlic on garlic bread.
So here is the problem, those hundreds of garlic tools I have looked into, none can do what I want.
So i made my own tool. easy to use, and safe for my fingers.

I've had only good results with my original Anova. I think managing expectations is important. It's not magic—just a cooker—and I've never tried to do a steak, which I do just fine under the broiler on a cast iron grill plate.
Sous vide is a great advantage when you don't know just when you'll serve, when you want to prep days ahead to free up time day of, when you're going to seal aanyway to infuse your flavors, when you have to serve a lot of identical entrees, if you're bad at getting meats cooked all the way through on your outdoor bbq or grill but the outsides are perfect...or any time you want to par cook, if you like a good hard sear but want the middle just so, when you're making tough cuts tender and have time but don't want to do a sugar+acid braise or pot roast.
It's not magic. It's just a superlong slow cooker that's appropriate for individual portions of proteins. Oh, but unlike a crockpot, you can't really overcook if you follow directions (e.g., limit poultry to less than four hours or it could go mushy). Importantly, cooking sous vide in water with a circulator requires kitchen cooking as well. Searing / browning, crusts and color don't happen sous vide, and often hunks of meat need a little time on the stove or in the oven, either before or after.
Annie, that's a great deal. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it's a good deal for someone that wants one. Elery drags ours out occasionally. His son has one and says the thing it's really good for is holding poached eggs when he has company and wants to make Eggs Benedict.
I've never done poached eggs that needed to be held for a period of time, but he often hosts his in-laws who like Eggs Benedict and there are 11 of them total for brunch after church.
Seagrass, I also have an air fryer, which is seldom used, although I do make bagel pizzas or baked potatoes for the grandkids when I don't need so much I need the big oven. So, maybe every couple of months, but enough that I keep it for just those two or three items.
Good luck with that downsizing, Lars. You see I still have the air fryer, LOL, it's more difficult than it seems, even when I gave things to The Princess when she started college and got her own place.

I think I'll head to WF and get some vegan cookies and some sorbet and be done with it.
