Just so you know Carline…hammered Aluminum trays are plentiful on the internet or at your local yard sale.
No special care, vintage for the warmth factor & so very functional. I have hammered aluminum pieces …trays, bowls, serving pieces & some simply beautiful & decorative pieces. They are generally not very pricey, & so very unique.

I hadn't thought of copper but will check it out, thanks!
Quick update: I tried the Old English I had previously purchased, and it worked great! Thanks for all of the suggestions and tips.
Two different chair-styles speaks to me. Less formal, kinda unexpected in a good way. The idea of a sectional may throw the 2 chair option out of the running. I will say that my kitchen, dining & living room with fireplace layout is so similar to yours. Very open. We opted for a sectional that focused on the fireplace & tv viewing, & the sectional serves to separate/define the two spaces. It works for us. We feel cozy watching a film. But what works for you & your lifestyle?
Investigating further...I don't think my knees will allow getting into this chair. It sits very low, and it tilts back too far for me in the same way that other iconic MCM chairs do.
The upside is that I can make that money go a lot further and still have very good quality and aesthetics. Just have to find!
Thanks for suggesting something I wanted at one time, Julie. You either have an excellent memory or very good notes!
Another plus is that you have me thinking of an ottoman/coffee table combo that would help eliminate some of the symmetry.
Cubby, you and Molly may be 100% correct! Thank you.
edited to update: I was referred to someone and have left a voicemail.
Any thought on how to accommodate for this??? Anyone?
I’m a volunteer gardener & docent at our local rural library….the various gardens feature native plants & our “tours” help to educate the community re: the value & benefits of native plants.
Oh Jay! I overlooked! You were the one posted the beautiful rug! It has amazing color! Those ruggables are really unique way to have an area rug that can be washed. My daughter uses a huge one in her living room and with the boys so messy “beyond” so messy, it works great! Thank you for posting that 💗
That looks like an awesome rug J to find all the figures in the rug my son would have loved that rug when he was little we used to read I Spy book Define the things that were hidden
Thank you, nelliebean
Wow so many helpful suggestions. It looks like the OP will have plenty food for thought if/when she returns.
Hope you see this
If table was turned, the niche could then be taken advantage visually and the dining set won’t feel as squeezed in. As well, items on wall are random/not drawing the eye. Therefore suggest an arched mirror in niche to reflect light/make the space feel larger and add impactful art on the right over the settee.
There are comments around adding a rug, but I think it could make room feel smaller (can always test/return if need be). I’d also skip painting niche or adding wallpaper so the small space is not interrupted visually.
Fantastic transformation ! The Houzzers presented options & you’ve pulled it together. You must be well pleased.
Thank you everyone. This has been a great community. I remodeled the entire house down to the studs and added an addition in the back as well with a garage a main bed and bath. Still some work in process but I will be sure to post some more photos when I finalize the landscaping in the front. Thank you again. I was happy to implement some of the great ideas from this group. The neighbors I think were unsure what I was doing at first, but once completed, everyone seemed impressed with the final outcome.
Stunning transformation! Thanks for posting the before and after photos.
Late to the discussion, but those two pieces belong together. The sofa is not too small…..the art is the statement. Paul F. has given you the vision….go for it! Make the statement that the art wants….you selected them so let let them speak….I love them.
Keep them! Look how many different people liked them, if that matters to you. They look perfect for the room and pack a nice design punch due to the size, colors, and the medium with its varied textures. Trust your eye and taste...you did great. Unless you just decide you don't like them, I wouldn't contemplate returning something you liked enough to buy and got almost overwhelmingly positive reactions on...that never happens! :-)
Another vote to keep them!

Tea and a tour, please, Little Bird. I'm in Iowa City. Years ago, I spent a lot of time near Alexandria where my sister lived. Oh, the lakes and trees. And who doesn't love Minneapolis!
My older sister & husband lived in Eden Prairie & Burnsville many moons ago. My husband & I were in Omaha with USAF & we visited - in summer - I do remember the extraordinarily large mosquitos 😱
Yes, try that. I like the 1-leaf added….don’t ask me why but I find it to be more inviting than just the circular table.
YES! And the art you’ve chosen is perfect.
just be sure to have great earphones…I love Audiobook!
Oh sorry about the mirror. I too had a problem with a wayfair furniture order several years ago. They're reputable, but they weren't easy to deal with for return or credit. We were worn down and the damage was not as pronounced as your mirror, so we accepted a price adjustment.
Have a wonderful trip ! I don't like flying, but I do it because I do love to travel. You're doing the right thing with starting to address it. Enjoy the trip!

My first wife never liked my Magneplanar speakers.
What about the second and third wives?
For kicks, maybe a very pale green throw on the wingback chair? Bringing the “green” in a more solid mass to break things up@ bit?
On first take that painting looks a bit large for that wall space. I think it’s going to dwarf the chair.
That's a nice texture type of rug

Christa, I think you need some color to cheer up both rooms. Here are items I found on the rainforest site and they are all very inexpensive (I'll throw in the $$ one at the end 😊).
I like the idea of turquoise/teal in both rooms - and I think it would go with the rug you already have on the bathroom floor - but I'd hold off on painting the chandelier - maybe later if needed.
Curtains in the bath - a soft turquoise/teal - not a bright tone:
New towels in the bath (this is a set of 6 - very good price):
New accent pillows for your bed - crazy good prices on the rainforest:
Maybe a small side chair near the windows in the bedroom (these are both amazingly NOT expensive- both on the rainforest site):
They're probably not the highest quality but in a bedroom they won't get heavy use.
And for the splurge item which you really don't need since you already have a very nice one, an unexpected WASHABLE rug in the bathroom. This one is from ruggables.com and it's $$. It's from the Justina Blakeley collection. In a bathroom I think the lowest price option would be fine.
Add a couple of dark turquoise/teal cups or dispensers on the bathroom counter and it will seem like a whole new environment. You can decide on painting the ceiling light fixture later but if you do I suggest making it a muted shade of turquoise or else a very dark tone so it doesn't overpower other things in the room. 😊
When you add teal, make sure to incorporate some white along with it to brighten and lighten things up. For a budget, I'd skip painting. Bathroom, get teal curtains with a white background. These would be great with your rug. Replace the ceiling fixture with something in shiny chrome. This one is $45. As money allows, replace vanity lights with chrome too.
A bright throw and pillows is enough to transform your bed area. Add a bright bowl to the vintage chest near the door. Over time get a few other pieces here and there.
