I'm heading towards one bathroom per bedroom plus a powder room as a minimum just so family and guests don't have to share with anyone they don't also sleep with. I'm sure that's not usually possible and don't want to suggest it "should" be any sort of norm. But I do like the idea of more small bathrooms instead of one big family bathroom if I could make it happen. I'm hoping to see more new home builds with that feature. Meanwhile, I am sacrificing a small guest room in my home to make it happen for me.

While is a good set of basic design recommendations for a bathroom with a variety of users, it would have been very useful to also mention thede practical considérations:

"Universal Design" design features that accommodate all ages: curbless shower, thinking through who needs access to what and how to provide that is central for family use

I think I saw a pullout drawer in a vanity in onevof your photos that could also serve as a step up platform for small children? if so, that was a good idea

A pretty clock with a timer is another wise addition as us a clean up caddy for family members to use to do a quick cleanup after themselves so the bathroom is ready (more or less!) for the next user
